KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An escaped inmate was taken into custody Thursday after leading police on an hour-long slow-speed chase through the Kansas City metro area.

Timothy Younce, 29, escaped from Henry County Jail on Christmas Day. Two other inmates who escaped with him -- Jason Eric Peek, 22, and Bobbie Ray Bailey, 23 -- were previously recaptured.

KMBC reported that Younce was driving a stolen box truck that belonged to the Federation for the Blind. The truck was stolen from the parking lot of the Family Thrift Store at 3821 E. Truman Road.

The chase started after 2 p.m. in the the 4000 block of East Truman Road. KMBC's Kelly Eckerman said the chase crossed over into Kansas, went to Kansas City International Airport, and back through downtown.

Several vehicles were hit during the chase. No injuries were reported.

Escaped inmate Timothy Younce was arrested after a police chase through the Kansas City metro.

The chase ended on eastbound Interstate 70 near 17th Street, where the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Younce had been in jail for assault. Earlier this week, police issued a public warning that Younce had vowed not to return to jail and was considered armed and dangerous.

Officials said Younce was taken to Cass County Jail, which is more secure than the older jail in Henry County.
