View Full Version : Corcoran has a new Prisoner KatReid 02-10-2003, 12:05 AM Corcoran's newest prisoner is my brother. I heard it's a hard prison. What does hard mean. And when will I hear from him...it's been two weeks. JoeysMom 02-10-2003, 12:12 AM Hi baby how are you tonight... This is my daughter Katherine... She wants info about Joey too... Patty softheart 02-10-2003, 12:16 AM You will hear from him, sometimes it takes a while to get through the process of just getting in. If you want to get his DOC number and information I copied this off Californias DOC site for you. To locate an inmate within the California Department of Corrections, please call (916) 445-6713, which is available 24 hours a day. You must have either the inmate's CDC number, or the inmate's full name and date of birth to receive information. The Inmate Locator/ID Warrants will provide an inmate's location, mailing addresses and relevant phone numbers. The Inmate Locator/ID Warrants will not provide any future release date information. Please note that for new or transferring inmates it can take up to seven business days to update location information. This URL will tell you a little about Corcoran http://www.cdc.state.ca.us/InstitutionsDiv/INSTDIV/facilities/fac_prison_CORCORAN.asp softie emme 02-10-2003, 12:16 AM hello katherine, i'm sorry i don't have any info for you, but i want to welcome you to pto...i hope you find a lot of support and love here. all the best, emme KConnor56 02-10-2003, 12:39 AM There are two parts to Corcoran, the SHU section, & a main line section. The SHU section is the worst part, & is one of the worst place in Calif. When I was there we called it Gladiator School, & you can guess why, & it earned it's reputation. There was a federal investigation into guards setting up fights between prisoners, & placing bets on who would win. A couple of prisoners were killed during these fights, by the guards supposedly trying to break up the fight. Since thenit has gotten a little better but a SHU is still a SHU. As for the main line, they plaay their politics real serious there. If he has come from another prison he should know whats up & should be able to get by. The main line is a lot better than the SHU.It's not the worst prison in Calif. but it is far from the best. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the truth is better than BS. Many guys go out of Corcoran without having any problems. --------Ken KatReid 02-10-2003, 12:47 AM What type of prisoners are in SHU? Or are the prisoners not the problem? KConnor56 02-10-2003, 12:48 AM I guess I didn't really answer your question did I. Lets see what does hard mean. Hard means they have prisoner rules that are stricktly adheared to. We call it politics. Racial politics are absolutely not broken, & if they are punishment is sever. Weak prisoners are preyed upon, for extortion, intimidation, etc. You have to prove yourself. The shot caller will know whats in your jacket, (personal file). He will be required to participate in any riots that happen. The different races have rules within their race. Hope this answers your question.--------------Ken KConnor56 02-10-2003, 12:51 AM You have all kinds of prisoners in a SHU. The only real prisoners you have to worry about is your cellie. It is possible for other prisoners to get at people, but it is rare, & takes a lot of planning, so your not around to many other prisoners. The guards are a**h**es. KatReid 02-10-2003, 12:53 AM he's in level III, is that bad? KConnor56 02-10-2003, 12:59 AM It can be. Like I said they are serious convicts in there, & they don't screw around or tolerate screw ups. If he has done time in another prison he should be OK.--------Ken LucidDream 02-10-2003, 02:53 AM Hi Katherine I just wanted to tell, as I have also told your mom, that I will keep your brother in my prayers.
