Well, my son was finally moved from Lee to McCormick today. He had a friend to call me this morning. I still haven't heard from him. The 877-846-3472 number says he is now at McCormick but the computer still says he is at Lee.

I called McCormick and they won't tell me anything. I asked if he could have a visit this weekend, they wouldn't say. Only that he would have to tell me that. They won't tell me what room, dorm....nothing.

But the man was very nice anyway.

Glad your son has been moved to McCormick! I understand why they can't give out information about transfers, but if he is ALREADY at McCormick, why can't you be told? Why can't you visit if you are on his list? How about writing him...you wouldn't know where to send his letters!

Sometimes, it seems like overkill!

I think it seems like overkill too. But so much seems to be with the prison system. They don't want people visiting that the inmate doesn't want to see or hear from but if he already has a list in use... There is so much that I just don't get. I hope that he will be able to call you about this weekend.

I'm sorry you weren't able to see your son over the Holidays. Prison is a pretty depressing place to be during such a momentous time of the year. I hope you will be able to communicate with him soon. It seems to me he tries very hard to keep you free from worry. Best Wishes to you both.

Well, I found out last night around 8:30 why McCormick wouldn't tell me anything and now it all makes perfect sense.

You see, the computer doesn't change the inmates location until the inmate actually arrives at that location. The telephone number changes locations as soon as the inmate leaves the central bus location in Columbia and is headed to their new destination.

My son called me at 8:15 and told me that he had only been there for a short time but he loves it. He is in a quite dorm and says it seems very layed back there.

Thanks for all of your encouragement and prayers.
