A friend of mines bf is at the ADX. He had a news article written about him. She sent it into him, a photo copy and they rejected it.

Does anyone know if the BOP instituted new rules regarding this ? Or does anyone know the rules regarding this.

She has sent articles in before. The ADX and BOP are probably doing this because the article that was publish does not make the feds look good at all. It is damaging to them and we all know they will get even anyway they can.

Any feedback or places I could look this info up for her would be greatly appreciated!

The BOP made a change effective on January 16, 2003. Everything must come from the publisher now. If you could get a copy mailed from the publisher...that should work.
Most places you special order back copies, even though its more of a hassel for "us" now...

So you can't even find one article in a newspaper and photo copy it and send it in?

They must have nothing better to do than think up new rules. LOL

I have sent Billy newspaper clippings since the new rule went into affect and he's gotten them without a problem. Maybe if you photo copy the article to keep for yourself and send him the original, he may be able to get it....just my opinion.

I had sent some pictures......they sent them back stating it was "too" revealing..

I RESENT the SAME pictures within a few months....he has them!

When I phoned the case worker asking about this new change just about a week ago...she knew nothing of it! She had to go and find something out before answering my questions.

I don't understand why it would hurt unless it contains something they do not approve of in the writing.

Me...I just sprung for the whole subscription of the Baltimore Sun! LOL Now I don't ahve to deal with clipping more then the coupons! LOL More for the prison to handle now!

They are alowed to get Newspaper article from people. just not the whole newspaper. I would say they just didn't want him to get that article since it put egg on their face. I would mail it again and see if he gets it. Like it has been said depends who is working the mailroom.

i think it may depend on which location the person is at because i can send in a clipping from a newspaper but not the entire paper. If you can not get a photo copy of it in to him, then i would just rewrite the article into a letter i was writing to him. I have done this and it got to my Dad. Good Luck.........

Yeah, I think Chandra is right...my man is her dad's cellie and I send him pages out of magazines all the time and just sent him a Mopar mag 3 days ago, he just called to thank me for it...so I would try and if it comes back , then you know.....

We found out it's the ADX who is preventing this. It does have to do with the news articles written about the FBI. We all know they don't like to be challenged and they especially don't like it when the organization is made to look back when the truth is exposed. Her bf does have an attorney and he can get the articles in. But I guess it's the point that they have too much control and it has nothing to do with security but trying to get people to keep their mouths shut which is nt right.
