Okay, I Feel like a huge dork!

Thing is, Dale doesn't get out for .. ohh, about a dozen years give or take... which means, if I were to buy him anything, it would be a real long time before he'd ever get to actually see it, wear it, use it, whatever.... So, what did I do....

Well, I bought him a Christmas gift this past year.. I Wrapped it up, and put a name tag on it... From Jody To Dale, Christmas 2002!

I sort of realized that this probably isn't really healthy... spending money on little stuff and gifts, that can't be enjoyed for many years to come. And I told myself, to give up this sillly idea of buying gifts for Dale... atleast wait until he gets within a year or two of getting out.

Ok, now I've rationalized with myself... talked some sense into myself. NOT! Tonight after work I stopped at Wal-Greens to get a couple of things. What did I See? A pair a boxer shorts that I Just knew would look great on Dale!!! (OF Course I threw them in my buggy)> Heading up to the check out... and there it is... a stuffed gorilla handcuffed in a cage that sings "wild thing">.. PLop... right in the buggy! By the time I got to the front of that friggin' store, I had 4 small valentines day gifts for Dale! lol

Ok, fess up... who else does this? I'm figuring, by the time he gets out, he'll have a christmas , valentines, birthday, and all those other 'day' gifts waiting on him.. I Just keep buying them, and labeling them...LOL

I think that's cute, Jody... cute and sweet and perfectly healthy. We all gotta have hope and faith and buying those gifts means you have both. Keep it up! :)

Jodygirl, I was at work today when a fellow employee gave a birthday present to another fellow employee. What was the gift you ask? It was the damn monkey in the cage singing Wild Thing!!!We were all sitting there cracking up when this employee said "Oh! We could give this to Robert! The little monkey who is locked up because he was singing too loud!"
LOL! I think it is So funny that you just brought up that damn monkey! LOL
But, I DO know what you are saying. My little itty bitty Christmas tree is still up because my brain still thinks Robert will be home soon and he just loves Christmas so..........yea, crazy thoughts probably, but you do what you have to!!! I totally do it!!! :)

You know those machines - like in the front of Wal-Mart - where the giant claw goes down and if you're lucky you win a stuffed animal? Wayne loves those machines and every time we went to Wal-Mart he dropped money into them.

Now, I do the same thing. I've got a dozen stuffed animals - bears, frogs, etc. - just waiting for him. I am obsessed with winning stuffed animals! LOL

Geez....I guess I'm too old and practical for all that (witha huge grin on my face right now).

I buy tools. Since they all have a lifetime guarantee, sitting for a few years won't hurt them. My hubby will NEED them when he comes home. I watch for sales and good deals. I go to auctions, buying used tools and clean them up.

I wrap them and attach a card...it tells what holiday and what year on the envelope. They are here for him to unwrap when he comes home.

Hehehe, I think tools is a wonderful idea. So far I"ve started with jewelry and little sentimental type things... and just a couple of goofy things... (like that gorilla)lol.. (THAt was too funny, JENI)...
But tools is a wonderful idea... I didnt' even think about the life time guarantee... Thanks for the idea, Mrs.D!
