View Full Version : For You Newbies This Is Picture Weekend
vim1946 12-27-2004, 10:13 PM The first weekend of each month is picture weekend -- unless they have changed the cost they are $3.00 each -- they are color polaroids and you take them with you -- pictures of you and your loved one together in contact -- I really don't know how they do it if your visits are through the glass. You pay before you go in and you have to have the exact change (at least at our unit you do.) Just thought I would remind you.

north star 12-27-2004, 10:16 PM Better check with the unit you visit. At Smith in Lamesa pictures are taken on the 2nd weekend, and they were still $3 last month.
freckledgrl 12-27-2004, 10:26 PM I don't know if it's the same way for you guys, but here if he's behind the glass they don't allow pics. They always took the person's money though...greedy grubs! They had to give it back when they figured it out, but I bet they had a hard time letting it go...lol.
Retired-18 12-27-2004, 10:36 PM They have never taken pictures at our unit, still trying to figure that out. Hey freckledgrl you must be feeling brave to take that avatar into the Texas forum :D !
freckledgrl 12-27-2004, 10:42 PM LOL!! Yep, but only a little brave....I left the Sooner Orange Bowl siggy off! At first I thought it'd be funny and should just go full monty with it, but then I decided it wasn't worth the Cyber Whoop'n Texas Style :D

ROFLMAO! Go Girl!
mattsbabe 12-28-2004, 06:59 AM in tx you can take picture thru glass, basically you are sitting on one side and y'all pose together with him thru the glass, I have a few of these with my husband. It may not be as nice as the contact ones, but hey a picture with my husband is how do they say "priceless!!" hahahahahaha!!!
mlk2001 12-28-2004, 08:15 AM Each unit it does them on differant weekends. Some are set weekend and others are just at wim and some just do not do it. My husbands unit does it the first and last weekend of the month on Saturdays. You can take pictures through the glass in regular visits and right next to them in contact visits. His unit just started taking digital pictures also, but this is per request only.
Grace1 12-28-2004, 08:45 AM Does this include Transfer Facilities
BrandNewGirl 12-28-2004, 06:55 PM Gist isn't doing them anymore, at least according to them last weekend. They said it was too much trouble.

jessnkat 12-29-2004, 11:31 AM You'd think at $3.00 for a Polaroid - they would all be taking lots of them - considering that that the profit is 3 times the cost of the film if bought individually (and I'm sure they buy it by the case at a discount - so the profit increases). Think of what they could do with all that extra money! Cause you know that we lonely women will buy them just to have pictures with our fellas!
vim1946 12-29-2004, 11:38 AM It's probably because Gist is a state facility housing TDCJ inmates -- only reason I can figure. How about if we get him moved somewhere closer -- is Lockhart okay?
CelliePieGrrl 12-29-2004, 01:01 PM I really don't know how they do it if your visits are through the glass.
Um, well they just do. I guess I am confused on how you mean you don't know...the inmate is on the other side of the glass, and you just stand or sit by the glass near them...they come out just as nice as if it were a contact visit.
Grace1 12-29-2004, 02:06 PM Can anyone answer my question?
jessnkat 12-29-2004, 02:28 PM Sorry, Grace, I don't know anything about the transfer units. You can always call the unit and ask if they are taking pictures when you plan to visit since it's different at each unit though.
Monica 9583 12-29-2004, 03:26 PM Hi girls how are you all doing? Hopefully good well heres my questions are this pictures available at the robertson unit in abilene tx? I knew they took pictures a while back but im not quite sure can anyone inform me of this? and if so what dates or times please!
jessnkat 12-29-2004, 03:30 PM Monica, each unit is different. You will need to check with that unit to find out when and even IF they do take pictures. You can ask when you sign in or call ahead.
