Does anyone know the directions to Delano from LA? Also, does anyone know if you're allowed to wear black demin? And can you print out your own permission form for someone to bring your child in the prison without you or do have to use one of their forms?

I heard from someone that visited there awhile back that NO denim of any color is allowed but I am not positive

From Southern Destinations:

Take Hwy 99 north to Delano, CA

Take the Cecil Avenue exit

proceed west on Cecil Avenue for approx. 3 miles

I wore black denim a couple of times when he was in reception there, no problem. They are more strict about sleeveless tops and sandals there than Lancaster, and I got scolded once because the top button of my (baggy) shirt had come undone, LOL, shame on me! But the COs try very hard to get the ladies wearing underwire bras through the metal detector.

Everything else is SOOOO much mellower!!! No guard at the gate, you just drive right in... also they have a Friends Outside trailer in case your clothes don't pass.
After LAC, you're a hardcore pro -- Delano will be a breeeze!

Dunno about the permission form -- it seems every prison has its own rules for that, at least the first time...

Thanks for info qwerty!! I knew there just had to be someone here who's loved one has been in Delano!! :) I finally found out today that I am approved to visit my son!! :) Hey, do you need to have an appointment to visit or can you just show up to visit for a inmate in reception?

Hello First time visitor to Kern from San Diego, California want to know how to get there, what hotels that are close, and what are the visitors allowed to wear because they are stricter then Centanilla Prison in Imperial County maybe spelled wrong but they did allow kisses and perfume to my man.
