This holiday weekend at Joseph Harp in Lexington, every child that visited received a new wrapped toy courtesy of Harp. I think that is awesome!! The men stopped by the Santa boxes and picked out how many toys they needed, and then delivered them to their family. There were basketballs, footballs, dolls that pee...lol, and I think I saw a couple walkmans. I was just so happy to see that those families who have to make a choice about how to spend the holiday with children, actually got to have a small xmas party, and Daddy (or whomever) got to be the hero.
So, is this normal for most prisons in OK? Lawton is the only other prison I know of personally and they refuse to even have visiting room games because they "cost too much money". And also, did any of the other prisons do anything festive for the holidays?
I'm hoping others got to have some holiday cheer too :)

Well, since I don't get to see my man I don't know if they allowed them to do anything at LCF, but I'm sure they didn't. You know how they are..lol But I did make John a Christmas card that folded out into a tree and left the star for him to put on. They allowed him to have it. His mom told me that he went on about it for the full 4 hour visit. I'm just glad that I was allowed to brighten his day and his holidays too. And I"m greatful that LCF allowed me too. I guess they do have a heart (Sometimes).

My son is at LCF and he told me on his pod they all got together and sat around watching sports and the christmas stuff on T V and banned together and made a jail house dinner! chips, dip, etc etc. So they made the best of there day to brighten things up and with the help of all the PTO members sending cards it was nice!! Thank You PTO for the help!

That was awfully nice of Harp to do that. As for Stringtown, I got no visit or a phone call. My James is in seg because he is being transferred soon. When who knows just when there is a bed open somewhere.
Couldnt believe that they wouldnt even allow him a phone call.
Just glad the others were allowed to have some sort of Christmas spirit and joy.
I bet that really made the guys feel great.

Wanna, I'm sorry girl, that's just not right. You two will have to have your own xmas when he's out of seg and make your wishes for the new year. It's not the same, but hopefully this will be over for you both soon!
I wish more prisons would do like Harp, but it never ceases to amaze me how some of our guys come together to make even the worst day a special one inside. From xmas tree letters to chips and honeybuns...lol.
