I called Wasco on Thursday because I was really hoping to see Jason for Christmas.Sence he is been in reception I havent seen him which has been a month. So I was really hoping to surprise him for Christmas. I know that he has to let me know when I have been approved but I thought Id "beat" the system a little and try and get them to tell me over the phone. Well the one I spoke with was very understanding and helpful but she said all she could do was tell me if my application had reached them yet. Well I sent it 3 weeks ago and they still hadnt received it =( And to make it worse she told me there background check system had been down for 2 weeks.....Does anyone know how much longer it should take? And has anyone ever been told that the system was "down". Kinda stinky if you ask me :blah: BTW....Merry Christmas to everyone :p

My Application took about 45 days to get approved so your on target. But here's a trick I used when my man was down at Donovan. Since he was in reception I had to call to make an appointment to visit. So I'd call and try to make an appointment and she said "sorry you're not on our system" that's odd I'd say and then hang up. Next weekend I called to make an appointment and she said "okay, what time would you like"

So I went down to visit that saturday and got a letter the following Wendnesday from the man that I was approved. Needless to say he was surprised.

Yes I called about a month after sending in the form and when I directly aked if I had been approved they would tell me the inmate had to notify me. I was ansy so I called every weekend till they actually made an appointment for me.

When I called I had planned on just trying to make an appoinment but she said they dont require appt. that is why she was only able to tell me if they had received my application. I just thought it was a little odd that the system for background checks was down during the holidays. Have you ever heard of this before and if so how long should it take for it to be up and running again.....my background is a little boring if you ask me it shouldnt take this long. j/k =)

I dont know about that freaking WASCO ... I am still so frustrated by them. I waited 7 weeks before I found out they had LOST my visiting form .... and my arrest record i mailed in with it ... that cost me almost $50.00 ..... So i had to re do mine all over again i just did it this weekend.... But now i dont know if i should Mail it in or not.... because of the riot that took place on his Yard Christmas Eve ... he said they'll probably be transferring alot of people out to other Prisons ....

But i definetly say to stay on top of them.

That sucks they lost all that paper work, I would be yelling at someone. My suggestion is send the new forms certified so you have a trace of who signed for it. And just get it in so you can visit cause if he does get transfered your visiting approval moves with him.

I've never heard of the system being down as well. Too bad you can't use the appointment trick. If it gets to be a problem up there, ask to speak to the visiting sergeant and let him/her now the trouble you are having.

Im beginning to think I am just not going to have any communiction with him during this whole thing < poor me huh?> =) This is all so frustrating Im about to scream. I dont know which makes me sadder. The fact that I couldnt talk to him or see him during the holidays for my own satisfaction or the fact that he was all alone. I sometimes wonder who is serving time here......me or him? I know I have the same gripes as anyone new to all this...I just miss him alot. Its our first time going through any of this. And truthfully I never thought we would ever be apart like this. Nor did I ever see us being apart over a time like Christmas. Sorry for the rambling =)

Dont be Sorry. I know Exactly how you feel. It is frustrating and it is Sad.... But we learn how to cope and to deal with and stay strong through the whole thing. i hope you guys never have to go through this again. I know exactly what you mean by wondering whos doing the time. I feel most of the time that i am also doing his time with him. because my life is on hold just as his is. But at least it isnt forever and we do have a date.

Yes your right at least we have a date. =) And all I can say is there wont be a next time at least for me. I cant imagine going through anything like this once let alone twice. I am going to make to through this but if any of his promises are not kept I will not stay around. I believe there is no such thing as a mistake twice. And I plan believing in that. I wish the best for you and everyone here.
