Well, in January my sweetie becomes eligible to go to a medium and we know they won't necessarily do the right thing, but we are thinkin Wallkill would be cool...we hear they have keys to their cells and it's sorta half human...plus they have Puppies Behind Bars, which is the only thing I can imagine doing him any good in there. Not to mention the good it would do the dog...He has also heard in there that it's all "lawyers and cops who got in trouble." I told him not to worry, those are the ones who got in trouble so they can't be all bad LOL...anyway, does anybody know anything about the place? and would y'all be nice enough to pray for us, as if nothing else it's close to home! after Coxsackie almost anywhere would be a relief.

Edit: just checked out the Prison Profiles thread- very informative- all props to our wonderful forum leader! would still like to hear any other personal experiences

Wallkill has a Horse Program too, where they can work with Horses, I know people that have loved ones there, and they get FRP visits as well if you are married or family. I hear it is a good prison as far as that goes....LOL...it is right across from Shawangunk CF, and you can visit on weekends too. :)

oh thank you guys! I'm praying too, believe me, it would make so much sense for so many reasons that I'm scared they'll not do it just to be contrary...maybe that's too paranoid...he just wants to survive this experience and he has no trouble with 90% of everyone, but there's always the odd CO or inmate who can smell it when somebody has a shred of self-esteem left and sets out to make them grovel. somehow I think there would be less of that at Wallkill

One of Richie's friend's is there,he's really settled down since he arrived. In the years I have been writing to him,he got moved a lot,but seem's to have really settled at Wallkill.
He just finished his GED and has come on such a long way since I first knew him,it has done him a world of good.Doesn't seem to be in trouble there like all the old places.
I noticed that in all the photo's his wife sent to me recently,he is wearing his own clothes too,not prison stuff which has got to be better for them.
