Here in my area (the Thumb), people are up in arms over a projected Three-quarter house for exdrug offenders.

Someone is remodeling an old motel to house these people, who will be under supervision. OF course, the neighborhood is up in arms over it. People flooded to the township meeting to protest this program being in THEIR area.

Some of the morons suggested that the area is already looked "down" upon because of the State Psychiatric Hospital and a Prison Camp. They actually stated that people don't move here because of the hospital and camp!!!! What a crock of crap....(not what I wanted to say, but I'm trying to clean up my language).

The 3/4 House seems to be welcomed by local officials. The County Board of Commisssioners and the area State Rep, Tom Meyer seem to be thinking positively about it. I was impressed when Tom Meyer stated, "Its a rehabilitation facility. They have done their time, and the center will be a place for them to be reintroduced into society, and yet be supervised.

I plan on sending Tom Meyer a letter or email and praise him for standing up and saying this. I just hope the 3/4 house does go thru!!!

This happened in MY neighborhood 2 years ago !!!! We almost came to a civil war !!! People are so crazy and unsensitive !!! There were all these women wearing navy blue skirts white blouse and pearl necklace, demonstrating everyday in front of the building to prevent the administration from opening this place !!! This was so ridiculous !!!

But some people (me included) put big banners on their balconies in favor of this house. :)

Now it's opened, and NOTHING wrong ever happened with any of the exdrug offenders !!!

So I'm on your side Mrs D, I hope you'll win the battle !!!

Emme, you mean the clothes and pearls ??? It's the typical outfit of the "bourgeoise", very conservative, absolutely not progressist and rather reactionary. When it's windy, she usually wears a Hermès scarf too. There are some of those species in my neighborhood !! :D

I sent Rep Meyer a second email with at topic of ...OOPS...Snowball. I told him a little about PTO and how I had posted his statement on one of our forums. I also told him I was proud that he made this statement.

His office emailed me back asking for my address and phone number as they wanted to contact me.

I await a written or phone response from him...I will keep everyone posted!!!
