Just wondering if anyone has any details about the rules that need to be follwed during probation period. For example, I wanted to plan a surprise mini vacation the week my husband comes home, but I am afraid too, because I don't know if he will be allowed to travel or not. Any ideas out there?

Most probation officers will not let you travel for the first 60 days after your release.

It would not hurt to ask, though, but I would not make any definite plans as of yet.

Thanks, I figured that it would be a hassle. That sucks you pay your price and they still could you in captivity after you have done the time.

HI

I traveled overseas while on probation. I wrote a letter to my sentencing judge and got written permission from him as well as permission from my probation officer. It was not hard to get done. No problem with traveling as long you ask them for permission.

Yes, Remiella, I can travel with no problem either, in fact last time I just had to call her on the phone and she gave me verbal permission. But I could not travel for the first 60 days after my release from the BOP.

Your husband will not be allowed to leave the district for an overnight stay without a travel pass. The PO will want to know the vehicle you will be traveling in (tag #), address & phone # where he will be staying. Who will be there, etc. Just contact the PO and you shouldnt have any problem

Of course you could just find a nice place to stay in the district and not have to ask permission. When I was on release I would take a weekend or maybe 3 or 4 days to go to the river and fish and camp. As long as I didnt leave the district he had no problem with me being gone from my home. At first I would call and leave a message, but after a year or so he pretty well knew when the fish were on the beds or flats I was gone.
