Wow , I am truly surprised! When I was a the Q they were gonna excute Kevin
Cooper, and I read a article in the S.F. Newspaper that he was found guilty
of the crimes he had said that he was innocent of. Does anyone know the
status on him? Not like I want to see anyone get killed by the state, but I am
really surprised that Ca is gonna do this.:(

Man, I am from California in fact Oakland. I did not know that they were scheduling them like that now. Guess they need to clear the way. It's sad to hear.

At 2019 hours on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, the United States Supreme Court turned down an appeal by the California Attorney General to overturn the stay of execution of Kevin Cooper. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 9-2 that the case should be sent to a federal judge for testing of evidence that inmate Cooper claimed could demonstrate his innocence and police wrongdoing. The ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court was the first time in decades that it agreed to delay an execution in California.

Hurrah! Let us hope this means Kevin Cooper is never executed.

It has to be a good sign that the ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court was the first time in decades that it agreed to delay an execution in California.
Maybe one day we will join civilisation!
(Bernard Shaw once said that the United States was the only country in the world that went from Barbarism to Decline without ever going through Civilisation...I used to think it was a witicism...now I think it is perceptive!)
