The retrial of Lawrence Jacobs (male, black, age 22) in Jefferson
Parish, Louisiana, which had been due to begin on 26 January 2003, has
been postponed until 14 July. The prosecution is still intending to seek
a death sentence against Lawrence Jacobs for a crime he is accused of
committing when he was 16 years old. International law prohibits the use
of the death penalty against people who were under 18 at the time of the
crime. Since 1990, the USA has executed 18 child offenders, compared to
14 such executions reported in the rest of the world combined. These 14
occurred in Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi
Arabia, and Yemen.

Send a letter to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney urging him NOT
to seek the death penalty against Lawrence Jacobs

Then you can use the recommended points to help you compose a letter that you can send to the addresses listed. As well, if you want, there are PDF and RTF format copies of the alert, which you can edit to compose your own letter. Then you print it and mail it. I am from Jefferson Parish in Metairie,Louisiana (infact) GOD help that system it is so corrupted, I am seeking a link to show what Harry Lee the Parish sheriff stated in OPEN PUBLIC INTERVIEW on blacks in HIS community, Such a RACIAL man,When I find that statement (Even the NAACP was involved in Harry Lee's comments) I am saying a prayer for Lawrence Jacobs and his family for they will need ALL the prayes in this community. EVEN thoug he is Asian he uses that to his advantage to make racial comments about blacks.When i find the statement ( A death row inmate in Louisiana at Angola even mentioned the comment ,I recently read his article of death row in mates in La he is also a VICTIM of the Harry Lee corruption.When I find it I WILL post it here for all to see what it is like being in that Parish of Louisiana. The entire legal system is so sad, Look at Death Row inmates in Louisiana and their bio's and see HOW MANY ARE FROM JEFFERSON PARISH and see HOW MANY are black :( Being black in this Parish is hard you have no choice or even a good defense attorney.
