Any ideas? California Sunshine 12-18-2004, 12:47 AM The CDC has a website but it doesn't give any info on inmates and the only CDC phone # I know of only gives inmate locations if you have their birthdate and/or CDC #. I really am not sure how to go about finding a release date,my boyfriend was given his while first incarcerated francis 12-18-2004, 03:57 AM the cdc inmate number will not give release date until after they are paroled... there is that VINE thing which lets you know they have been release..i don't know if we have it california.. the incarcerated person has to tell you.. i don't know of any other way, unless you were the victim of the crime..they will notify you in advance of when the perpetrator is be released.. best francis RPinSD 12-18-2004, 11:15 AM I was told you can go on Department of corrections website and be able to find out the right release date but I tried and I am not sure how to do this. Any ideas? In California The inmates release date is given to the inmate only at time of classification and completion of orientation. So the inmate would have to tell you that when they are clsssified and mailined which usually takes 3 to 6 months. These days the out date reflects their 15% or 50% credit date, but that can easily change if they get write ups or misbehave. It's correct that if you are the victim, you can choose to be notified by the CDC prior to the release of an inmate. RPinSD coulter 12-18-2004, 08:21 PM I was only wondering because I am getting to differant answers on what he was sentanced. His mom called the department where he was arrested and they say they only show he got a year and 4 months but before he went into reception he told us he got 2 years. Without any communication you can imagine my frustration. I just would like to know how long he got. Whether it is 10 years or 6 months, to me that is the only way I will be able to keep some sanity. And with him being in reception I cant even ask him if I tried. Uggghhhh! RPinSD 12-18-2004, 09:04 PM Hi Coulter Yes that sounds frustraiting, First off You or Mom can request copies of his Trial Papers from the County Court House to find out the answer. Kinda strange cause whatever the Judge gave him in court is what he does. Now the question is did your man do any time in County Jail during or before trial cause that's included in the time served. So if he was in County for 8 months than sent to State Prison he would do the reamining 1 year 4 months of the 2 years. Now in California depending on the crime, His actual out date is not the 2 years or 14 months, but either 50% for most non violent crimes and 85% for most violent crimes. You can PM me and we can discuss this confidentially to figure it out as I'm pretty good at California Penal Codes. And as the title suggest if I don't know the answer I'll research it. RPinSD coulter 12-18-2004, 09:50 PM Thank you so much for responding.....I cant believe how helpful most have been here =) Heres the story, the judge sentanced him to 2 years but half time like you mentioned. He was in county but only for a month if that. So either way the two numbers do not make much sence. At the most I was especting him to serve a year but as I have read, there are ways to get credit? Is it possible that he might serve only half of a year and 4 months. LOL Im sure we all have our wishes :p He also told me something about 35% so I was trying to see if it was something like this. <Sorry if I lose you on this one> But what if it is 35% of 2 years which would be around 8 to 9 months right? Well if you take 1/2 of 16 months you get the same number.....are you following me? Again I know we all must come up with soooo many scenarios just to help us sleep at night. Thanks again for any answers! LisaL 12-19-2004, 06:04 AM You might be able to read the court transcripts online. My son was convicted in Riverside County and I went to the Riverside County Website and am able to read the court transcripts. In the transcripts it says what the Judge ordered, how much time and whether it is 85% or 50%, etc. If you need any help with how to look it up online just PM me. With some counties you have to pay a fee to look at the transcripts online. Also, wanted to say that your scenario sounds pretty good, that just might be the answer. Hope it is. Take Care and God Bless! coulter 12-19-2004, 11:05 AM Thanks Im going to try and look up online. Take care and God Bless to you as well =) |
