 Would anyone happen to know how long an inmate has to wait to go home on furlough after being on work release?

From what I have been told, and it's been a while, inmates are in regional maintenance at the work release facility for either 60 or 90 days (can't remember which) before even getting into the work release part. Then after 30 days of actual work release, they should be allowed a furlough home.

My fiance has been a 309 for the last couple months, but we had been trying to look into work release before. Is your husband/boyfriend in work release now or on his way? I've heard lots of good things about Texarkana.

My husband just got transferred to Benton work release Thursday. The only thing I don't like is that visitation is on Sundays (it was on Saturdays when he was at the other facility) and I was expecting to spend X-mas and New Year's visiting him. But the good thing is it is only 30 minutes away from our home. He told me that he has to clean up around the facility for 30 days and then he will get a real job. I can't wait until he can come home on furlough. Do you know if they can stay home the whole weekend or is it just a one day thing?

I think it depends on which work release facility it is for how long they get to furlough out for. I've heard 30 hours, 48 hours, etc. But from what I've heard, it's at least an overnighter :). Be careful at Benton, I've heard that they are pretty strict there. Yeah, my fiance doesn't get a furlough for 9 more months because he has to be a class 1 for at least 1 year before they'll let them furlough out when they're a 309. But I can't wait!

Yeah, when I talked to him last night, he told me that there are some things that he has to adjust to because they have a lot of rules. I asked him what kind of rules did they have, but he wouldn't tell me over the phone. I'm gonna ask him Sunday.

Well good luck with everything! I know you must be thrilled. And about it taking 30 days until they're allowed a furlough once they're in work release, I could be wrong. I really think it depends on the facility, and I only really know about Texarkana work release.
