Rumor has it that Mule Creek is about to become a "special needs" facility and that all the "regular" population will be moved...your basic mystery move! Has anyone heard anything else about this?
Thanks,
Jane

Isnt Mule Creek already mainly SN?

No - it's got a big general population - lots of jobs, etc. Also (especially lately) lots of fights between mostly North/South gangs. I think that's what prompted the change.

My penpal is on a transferlist and one of the possibilities is Mule Creek, he is in CSATF now (he has a disability) and before he was at Mule Creek. That is all I know!

So when is the big move suppose to happen? Why not just call the prison and see if they can provide you with any information. It can't hurt?!

Mule Creek already has at least one Sensitive Needs Yard. Has had it for a while.

Just got the latest that all of the general population guys in building 15 are on their way elsewhere. The first bus leaves 12/27.

So does that mean that mean that they are turning the entire prison into a "SNY" or just building 15? Also what level is building 15?

What levels does Mule Creek house?

According to one of the CO's yesterday, all the general pop guys are on their way to other prisons, a process they hope to have finished within two months, and Mule Creek will be only SN from now on.

I have also heard it will now be all SNY. I know there are level 4s there, not sure which other levels.

I just checked on the CDC website and it says that Mule Creek houses Levels 1, 3 & 4. So are all these Levels going to be SN Yards?

Anyone heard any rumors about changes to Salinas Valley State Prison? They have one SNY yard. I'm wondering if those guys will be shipped to Mule Creek and that yard will resume to a general population yeard. Just wondering!

I was told by a CO last weekend that all of C yard was being changed to SN....They are making it a SN prison except for minimum (level 1)....She said they would have everyone transferred by end of Jan....My Baby is on minimum, and hopefully they aren't changing that too...But I never believe "rumors"....because there are so many of them!!!!

That's no good. I just made a pen pal there. I'm about two hours from Mule Creek. *Hmph* So much for that if this takes place. :(

What's happening is there are so many gang drop-outs and others who want or need to be in protective custody that the system has been setting up new "Sensitive Needs Yards" (SNYs) like crazy. So far it seems to be the only way for a lot of guys to get away from the prison gangs so it seems like a good thing.

Well having worked one of these yards I can tell you that Gang Dropouts are the minority. The vast majority of inmates on these yards are Sex Offenders and 1st termers who are scared of prison.

Not to mention that the dropouts are banding together and creating "PC Gangs" such as the "New Flowers" for the Northern Mexican Dropouts.

Such complexity to all this... I'm so lost its not even funny.

Sgt. maybe you can answer this for me. So what's the difference between a (SNY) Sensitive Needs Yard & (PHU) Protective Housing Unit?

So does anyone know if this has gone into effect?

Yup...it's a done deal. Most of the general population is gone already, with another bus leaving Wednesday. They expect to have everyone other than SN gone by the end of the month. (My son is on his was to Centinella...a result of me having said about Pelican Bay "well, they can't get him any further away from me than that!" Ha! We're now going to have been border to border...literally!)

I know I'm posting a little late, but better late than never I guess. Any way, my fiance is in reception at NKSP in a Sensitive Needs Yard and he said a lot of the guys that were suppose to go to CSATF are now going to Mule Creek.

Maybe he will finally get his transfer!!!
