Can Anyone Tell Me Anything They Know About Tehachapi, About Visiting What U Can And Cannot Wear, If It Snows? Also Is It On Of The Rougher Prisons, What Programs Do They Have There Etc Etc? Any Information Would Be Greatly Appreicated Oops, Or If Anyone Knows Of Any Links/sites They Have On Tehachapi. The Reason I Want To Know Is Because My Man Just Got Trensferred There This Morning From Wasco. I Was Already Getting Comfortable There And Now It A Whole New Program.

Building a site now for an organizatoin and trying to find out what information is needed, so I'm helping you while helping myself on this project:
Not only does it not say you can't wear winter clothes in winter, "emergency clothing" is one of the things teh visitor center in any California correctional facility is *required* to provide visitors if needed.
Also in the list is:
*childcare
*transportatoin assistance
*regulations and policies
*referral to other agencies and organizations
*a sheltered area outside the secure area for those waiting before or after visits (I imagine waiting to be let in or for transportatoin back home)

This is all in the california state penal code, section 6352

As for security measures unique to that facility, it'd depend on level of security (i'm not from california, and unfamiliar with prisons there other t5han the obvious ones, but the internet is a wonderful thing at times).

I put a "panic button" on the site I'm doing for folks needing help in a pinch (you're welcome to use it or any email link on the page to ping me...always have a few minutes to spare...and the panic button is checked every day)

If I was helpful at all, I'm glad...(oh fell free to loot the Xmas card I posted on my sites too (i put oneon every site I run every year...this one's 2 pages, and I cna send a .zip or .gz file to any not knowing how to loot the parts off, along with instructions on posting or sending it.)

From the CDC site :
Visiting Days: Saturday, Sunday and designated holidays
Visiting Hours: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Visiting information regarding institution directions, appropriate clothing, rules and regulations may be obtained by calling 1-800-374-8474.

Also found this online :

Visiting rules are strictly by the book. If you can’t pass the metal detector, you will be
hand scanned. Processing starts at 7:45 and you then have to wait for a bus to take you to the yard you’re visiting inYou are processed a second time when you get to that yard’s visiting area.
The visiting rooms are huge, but still not big enough to hold all visitors.
Terminations are common, especially around the holidays.
Visiting Staff is courteous and efficient.
You may not get a visit during the winter snow storms, when their busses can’t drive you to the yards
Also, visits are terminated for all visitors when snow/ice closes the major roads to and from the prison

Mistify, you are so informed! I presume the same goes for Sierra Consv. in Jamestown, where my love went from Wasco (though he was referred for Chino or Tehachapi). God sure is testing us with all of this.

About money, is that to buy junk food and/or to put on their books?

Not to sure about Jamestown? But my Son last time went to Susanville. For fire Camp. Just because they go to either Jamestown or Susanville does not neccesarily mean the will actually make it to fire camp training. There were alot of guys who never got the chance to go to the training alot of them just did there main line at the Prison. The visiting is pretty much the same at susanville and Tehacapi and Corcoran. It was real easy checking in for visits at Susanville. They were not to picky on the attire of visitors with in reason. Same thing with the money for visiting everywhere. $30.00 in a clear plastic purse bag or ziploc. This is for the snaks you or your loved one will eat during visits. The pictures u take at visiting may differ a little with each place. U either pay the two dollars on the spot or the Inmate has to purchase the picture ducket ahead of time sometimes they purchase them at canteen. The process is pretty much the same at all Prisons with a little differing on some things if in doubt always call the Prison and ask for visiting or the recording. Remember it's always a good idea to take a few change of clothes just in case, I've seen people get in wearing something and someone else be turned down for the same attire. Each CO has a differnt opinion. So to be on the safe side is best. The money you send is put on there books and used for canteen. Purchasing items snacks stamps envelopes paper. hygiene coffee all the things they need. The packages you send through a vendor and they are in quarters of 3 month intervals. These are above and beyond the canteen items. Although some stuff is the same. They are able to purchase Tennis shoes sweats under clothes tee shirts and things like that photo albums etc etc. Hope this helps if I can help further PM me.Also if they are lucky enough to go through the fire camp training this is a great thing it's easier more free they get to travel and be busy and that is one of the best paying jobs a Inmate can get! Plus they get certified in fire fighting.
