I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was any programs in federal prison for alcohol abuse that would give additional time off? I know that they have one for drug abuse, but what about for alcohol. If there is, where can I find info on it and how much time off can be expected if someone successfully completes it?

Hi David,

I can't really answer your question, but what I can tell you is that alcohol is a drug...therefore the drug program should suit you fine.

Happy new year...

The RDAP program is for drug abusers and alcohol abusers. The previous poster is very correct-alcohol is a drug.

I am not sure about how much time off the RDAP would give you off.

Thanks Sunnie, I really appreciate the info! Since there is documentation in the FBI investigation and my PSI report about the severity of my drinking, maybe I'll have a chance of getting into the program.

You can read the RDAP program statement at www.bop.gov (http://www.bop.gov).

I went through the RDAP program due to alcohol abuse, so please let me know if you have any questions.
