I did a news search on Carswell and found a story about seven sexual assault cases in seven years. The story did not specify whether this was the camp or the main unit.

Will your sister be in the medical facility?

My friend is in "Camp", she transfered over about 6 months ago from across the street. I got to visit her this past summer. It was a defining moment for me when I left & waved bye to her. Although she is oddly happy there & says that it is the best thing that could of happened to her. She was going down a very bad road doing & selling drugs, and says this has saved her life. She has had several medical situations while there that have been handled well (hernia operations, teeth pulled) & is happy with the overall treatment. :p

Thank you for the info, Spiderwebb. Prison is uncomfortable at times, but it IS survivable. It depends on the person on how they choose to do their time and it sounds as if your friend is getting herself together.

I was in Carswell Camp in the early 90's and they had and probably still have issues with the guards making advances at the inmates in the Camp and the FMC just be aware ......

It still goes on. My wife is there now. She was sexually assaulted by a guard three weeks ago.

What happens when this type of thing happens? What can she do? How can she stop it from happening again? I surrender on Dec. 1 and this is the type of thing that I"m most frightened of.

All i can say is that i had resources lined up to try and do something. She begged me to not do so as she was afraid of retaliation by the other guards. She filed some sort of internal process when they treated her for her injuries. She says it is ongoing. She does not sleep well at night. She will not discuss it with me openly. I only get bits and pieces here and there. They are currently restructuring the section where she is. Rooms that hold 2 beds are now being crammed with 3. Things are very tense and crowded she says. I will try and pass along info more often. I have been busy lately dealing with some other legal issues of hers.
