my son was starting to get into trouble when he was14-15ish i was in court trying to get custody of him from his father who taught him everything he know.....i was able to salvage him from juvi dtention by getting him into a program called Seaborn. This is one outstanding program! it is located in Galveston Texas, he had to "voluteer" which the judge told him he would! He got his G E D and some college credit hours, boot camp type routine, lived on a docked ship in bay(got a taste of navy life) and did hours of hours of COOL community service, he rages loud about this program to this day! He is 20 and will talk to any kid and tell them go. Did this fix the problem? No, he got into trouble at 17 after completeing the program and back with dad and here it came! He has issues, he is still learning how to guide his life somewhere besides jail. The program was awesome and he joined the navy after just didnt go fast enouogh before jail.
This did not cost me a dime!!!!!!! Best part!!! My attorney said $100,000.00 and a damn good attorney could not have gotten that for her child? I guess a mother has to fight, I know I DID! I still am.
My husband also worked for Gainesville State School for some time so i am familiar with that as well, Very Very, Very Shitty place! Even for employees!!! He was working there when i was going through this with my son, and the boys he worked with said many times, "I wish I could have done that, I just wanted to be anywhere but home" how many parents heard that? This was my sons deal to. He like any other teen, no rules was cool, but once he got there he learned some rules he could live with, with someone who cared!!!

I am glad it is for girls also. My daughter just might check into this. Thanks for the info. How often did you get to visit while your son was there? Did he get leaves to visit you?
