Unless they've changed in the past year, they use T-Netix. At least that was the scam artists running the phones when my husband was there! :(

No, we didn't. He could just call directly and the charges came on the phone bill.

Since I was in another state, the calls ran just over $20 for a 15 minute collect call. They are true crooks! :(

Good luck to you! I hated dealing with the prison phone companies. Alabama's really the only stated I've dealt with (the calls from the county jail were just a few dollars) and it was a headache!

But like you said - it was worth it just to hear his voice! Now that he's home, I can't get him to hush! Especially when I'm trying to watch TV! :p

my boyfriend is in county- and the company in (unfortuantely) Global Tel Link.
but i'm sure it might be different for prisons.

BayCity - your friend will have to turn your phone number in on his phone list to the prison and once they approve it he should be able to call you.

T-Netix may at some point require you to set up a direct billing account with them but you won't be able to set that up until he has or has attempted to make calls to you. In most cases they bill you through your phone company so unless your friend has difficulty getting through to you once your number is approved on his phone list at the prison, I wouldn't worry about contacting T-Netix.
