I went to Tucker Max this last weekend. It was different from most units. Because of my friend's class and crime, he was behind glass-a no contact visit. I couldn't buy him anything to eat or drink either. I had my eyeball scanned when I first went in and then I had to take my shoes off and be frisked. The visit lasted for 2 hours. You have to call and make an appointment a few days ahead.
It was a lot like visiting at the county jail in Little Rock.;)

I am new to all this... Why did they scan your eyes?

I have a cousin that just got 26 years for meth lab but he was a repeated offender on several occasions.
Not sure where he is at right now, Little Rock had him but I am sure they won't keep him. :(

They scanned them for identification purposes. The staff has to do it too. Everyone does it coming and going. The first time they put all your information in the computer and have you look in the scanner so the computer matches your info with your eye. Tucker Max is the only unit that is doing it right now.

Wow...eyeball scans. Don't think I will be visiting my husband there. Not that I don't want to see him or anything, but the whole eyeball thing has me creeped out.
Is Tucker strictly a Max unit? My husband violated his parole and has some new charges. Stupid thing is that he had court on Dec 6th, but they had came and gotten him the day before Thanksgiving. Only good thing about that was that he didn't have to eat Turkey sandwiches (he was in Benton County...gawdawfulposplace!) for T-giving. Anyway, they did not bring him back up here for his court date (which just means he will have yet another warrent when he gets out) and it is just really really stupid.
I am interested too if anyone has any more information on these outside connection companies. I have a home phone but my landlord pays the bill and I can not accept collect calls on it anyway. I would have to have the forwarded to my cell.

There are two prisons next to each other, one is Tucker Max and one is regular Tucker.
ADC will give him a disciplinary if you go thru a third party to get your phone calls. Be very careful - talk to ADC before you commit to a third party service. It sounds like you will NOT be able to have him call you.
