View Full Version : mens colony joe1958 12-09-2004, 01:51 AM  can anyone tell me about the mens colony san luis obispo? joe1958 12-09-2004, 01:53 AM I am seeking info on a prisoner who was due for a parole hearing back in feb and it was postponed, anyway to tell if a new hearing was scheduled? FieldsofGold 12-09-2004, 02:36 AM I saw your thread and was interested in what you wanted to know about CMC. Which side? East or West? 4ever friend 12-20-2004, 08:53 PM Not sure what all you need to know, but there is a West and an East side. Most of the inmates are in dorms. There is a big visiting area with the usual vending machines etc. They get real cranky if you park or pause outside the prison while awaiting the "come on in" signal for vistiors. If you are coming from out of town or state, do not count on public transit as it is a ways out of town. I probably still have the visitor's book if you need more info. FieldsofGold 12-23-2004, 12:08 AM East side is medical and lifers, West is fire camps/ dorms for child molesters etc. East side is a Level 3 yard, West is a Level 2 and 1 . One for fire camp usually, and people that are short. Also Level 2 is for cops that mess up and end up in prison, lot's of ex cops serving time on Level 2 at CMC. East side is a medical facility. Bob-bi-lu 12-23-2004, 02:56 PM However, not everyone that is on the East Facility is there for Medical reasons or a Lifer. My fiancee has been at CMC East Facility for over 4 years and he's not on any Meds nor a Lifer. So it just varies. My friends husband is on the West Facility, and he's not a child molestor, though I'm sure there are some there. I guess my point is, not everyone on the West Facility is a Sex Offender. MizzCandy 12-23-2004, 04:06 PM Thanks Lisa!!! I was about to say not everyone at CMC is a lifer nor in medical! I didn't mean to say everyone who is on West is a SO. I was on West and I wasn't a SO either. East side is part of medical. There are alot of inmates on East that are there because of aids etc...my nephew was on East serving a lifeterm for murder. But alais they shipped him off to PB, why I don't know and my sis in law is still trying to figure that one out. When you are going to the West gatehouse and your hanging around to get into the gatehouse for visiting, the two dorms that face the parking lot are for SO's. Unless they recently changed that program I wouldn't know as I haven't been to CMC in 2 years. When you are in visiting and you are on the outside patio, the dorm to the right with the big chained fence is where they house the x cops. Is there a lady co there in West visiting named Baldwin? She was always so nice to me and my wife. Just wondering tho. FieldsofGold 12-29-2004, 12:12 PM Another thing I forgot to ask, do they stillhave the number program for visits on the weekends on West? Where you have to get there by 7am when the open the main gate to the West side, or is it first come basis now? Any of you remember that one? My wife when she used to come and see me would have to be there by 7am to get a number, then leave the grounds and return to the West side to stand in line and fill out her pass. Is that the same? QUOTE] My fiancee has been on the East facility for over 4 years now and yes there are a lot of guys there that are on Meds. and are Lifers but thankfully my fiancee doesn't fall into either of those catergories. Though I do not visit on the West Facility, I do know that YES they still pass out the numbers on Sat. & Sun. for visit. They start passing out the numbers at 7am and once you get a number you must leave the prison grounds and are not to return until 8:45am. Unfortunately that's not the way we do it on the East facility, though I wish we did!!! WaitingOnShyne 12-31-2004, 12:56 AM I am new to this so if I do this wrong sorry. I am trying to get info on CMC-West, my other half just got there and is in till May 02 of 2005 and wanted to know the best route to go for visiting and the procedures that I must adhere to. When the best day to go is and what I should expect. I have never visited anyone in a prison or any correctional facility before and wanted to know a few things like the length or the visit, can you touch, where do you visit and how to start the visiting procedures. Thanks so much for the help and again if this “posting” is done wrong my apologies. mike5335 01-02-2005, 10:50 PM I am trying to get info on CMC-West, my other half just got there and is in till May 02 of 2005 and wanted to know the best route to go for visiting and the procedures that I must adhere to. I have never visited anyone in a prison or any correctional facility before and wanted to know a few things like the length or the visit, can you touch, where do you visit and how to start the visiting procedures. Here is a link to the CMC site which provides visiting hour info, dress code, directions etc. http://www.corr.ca.gov/InstitutionsDiv/INSTDIV/facilities/fac_prison_CMC.asp http://www.corr.ca.gov/InstitutionsDiv/INSTDIV/facilities/fac_prison_CMC.asp I only visit CMC East, so I'm not personally familiar with West. I know that the gates open at 8 a.m. and that, to get to west, it is a left turn up the hill after entering. Your other half will need to get you the visiting paper work via mail. Then you complete the information, send it back to the prison via mail, and they will inform him of when you are approved. It took a couple weeks for me but I'm already "approved" at other prisons so your experience may be different. I hope the info is useful. Good luck! |
