Officers still seeking inmates who fled from Wasco prison

Two inmates who escaped Saturday night from Wasco State Prison are still at large.

Rogelio Garibay and Elias Villagrino Diaz, roommates in the receiving center at the minimum-security facility since June, walked away Saturday evening sometime before 9:30 p.m., prison officials said.

Law enforcement officers are still searching for the two, although they do not know if they are traveling together.

"It would be nice if they were traveling together, obviously for us that would make things a little easier, but we don't know that that's the case," California Department of Corrections Lt. Brian Parriott said.

Garibay is a 21-year-old with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 115 pounds.

Garibay is from Avenal and was serving a three-year term for making a terrorist threat.

Elias Villagrino Diaz is a 39-year-old with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. He sometimes goes by the alias Alfredo Torres Mendoza or Elias Torres Diaz. Diaz, from Santa Ana, was serving a two-year sentence for stalking.

I can't believe that they fled for that little time... I would understand if they booked it cause of a 10 yr sentence but 2 and 3 is not worth it...

I know. For if and when they do get busted again, they will get a hell of alot

more time for taking off. And they won't be on a level 1 yard when they come back.
