What did you want to know about the fire anyway? How quickly the screws didn't open the doors? How come the screws didn't notice the guys barricading etc even though you were under constant surveillance? Or was there something else??

Five guys died in the 1987 Jika Jika fire. Jimmy Loughnan and Kevin Gallagher were two of them. I will check out who the other three were. The prison chaplain was Fr Peter Norden and he broke the news to relatives outside Pentridge that night. I think Peter Nordern is still invovled with the catholic Jesuit ministery in Melbourne. he might have additional information that could help. In the Australian movie 'Chopper' (the story of Mark Chopper Reid) Jimmy Loughnan was the guy who stabbed Reid in H Division during the 1970s. (Just a trivial piece of information) cheers all.

I forgot to add that Angel Gallagher and Nooky Gallagher were sisters of Kevin Gallagher who died in the fire. Kevin's body was brought back to Sydney where he was buried. We all attended his funeral at Fivedock. cheers all

The five guys who died in the Jika Jika fire were Jimmy Loughnan, Arthur Gallagher, David McGauley, Robert Wright and Richard Morris. On 28/7/1989 the coroner Hal Halenstein held an inquiry into their deaths but don't know the result. cheers all

Yes i spent many days in the court room hearing all this stuff, the result was jika was to close and about 5 officers got the sack. Nasty it was but now they are all in a peaceful place and not in a hell hole controlled by freaks..
