Hi Legalkitty! I visit Sussex I Prison every weekend. I have had no bad experience at this prison. In fact, I think the guards are really nice. Since I go every Sat & Sun, the guards got to know me. We talk and they even give my daughter some paper to write on while I am waiting to see my husband. If u r nice to them they r nice to you. Sometimes if there are not too many people in the visiting room and my papers says I have to leave by 2:30pm, they let me stay until 3pm. Strange as it sounds, some of the guards became very friendly with me and our daughter. Thats only cuz my daughter is extremely out going and friendly and will talk to anyone. So as a result, they r nice to the both of us. When I first went there I was nervous and they knew I was new to this whole prison thing and they were extremely helpful to me. Im sure you will find people who will disagree with me, but this is my opinion. I have been in that visiting room n there r people who r just down right rude to the guards for no reason which then provokes the guards to go right back at them. As far as waiting for your visit, majority of the time it is quick. If I wait 30 mins b4 I see my husband that is alot. I can count on my one hand how many times I had to wait longer than that. But I know from experience what time to go. i do not go when they are doing count or anytime right b4 it. Well I hope this helps you a little bit. If u have anymore questions feel free to Pm me.
