After the drive to my son's base, 2 days of "hurry up and wait" meetings with his attorneys, the heart-wrenching ordeal of watching my son grieve to the point of making himself sick AND dealing with my own anxiety of not knowing how my ex (who was there also) was going to react to the negative statements about him in my son's statement, we went to court on the 1st only to be advised after an hour that it would be continued due to the judge's decision to have my son sent before a sanity board.

BUT I do feel this is an answer to prayer because even if it does not change the final outcome, it will allow my son to share his son's 2nd birthday with him and the Christmas holidays instead of being in that god-awful county jail. I think that I can rest easier knowing that at least by the time another holiday rolls around, even though the thought of his being confined at all is hurtful, he should be allowed contact visits by that time. I cannot explain it but this issue was a very big deal to me, maybe because I saw the county jail.

His attorney told us to not expect this delay to affect the final outcome - but who knows - maybe he will be wrong. All I can do is continue to pray.

Beside my son always,
Pam

Just a question. Why, if your son is being charged in the military, is he in county jail?

The base does not have its own brig, holding cells or whatever you want to call them. It is a very small base. Right now he is confined to base but he is working and living in a dorm. Thank goodness his Commander made that move - that county jail was horrible. After and if he is sentenced, he will have to stay at the county until he is transferred - hopefully not more than a month.
