View Full Version : Old Folsom Info??
weizwife55 12-03-2004, 04:59 PM can anyone give me some information about the Old Folsom State Prison? my man had recently gotten transferred there from Delano,i was just wondering what it was like... how's the visiting program? and all the other stuff... thank you
mamawen 12-04-2004, 06:13 PM From what I hear...OF is the only prison I've been to, ours is one of the worst to visit.
We stand in line starting at 6:30 am in the rain. The cops come out and give us numbers at around 7, and those that don't get them have to stay in line until 8 when they start processing. They only let 30 at a time inside, so you can be outside waiting 'til 10am sometimes. Some of the cops are getting better, but most of them treat us like crap. We only have one visiting room for all inmates, so if there's a lockdown, there's no visiting. Depending on the warden...we've had like one new one every year...they will LD by race, but this last one lasted about 3 weeks and they locked everyone down. The vending machine prices are costly, and eventhough IFC has addressed this with the various wardens, they won't listen...last week there was a breakout of food poisoning from the vending machines.
The prison is mostly level 3s now and the culture there has changed a lot. The inmates here have less to lose now, and they old school mentality is lost on them.
If you get family visits, I have tons of info on those too. Our FV Officer is the bomb!

Tanya W. 12-14-2004, 10:52 PM Old Folsom in my opinion sucks. The visiting room is way to small for all of us who visit. It's overly crowded all the time and when this happens they start terminating visits. So if you are one of those early birds who like to get in to see your love one first thing in the morning, theres a chance that you will get terminated before 12:30pm in order to let other visitors in. The food cost too much and the officers are control freaks. I tend to make the best out of the time i have with my husband and focus on making him feel as pleasant as possible because their the ones who have to stay there 24/7 while we go home. Do you travel far to get to Old Folsom? If so i have info on transportation and room/board. Good Luck!

Tanya W. 01-05-2005, 07:55 PM I'm actually trying to get my business off the ground. "FAMILY LINKS" Transportation Service. Designed to transport family of inmates back in forth from and to the priso. I pick up from the bus station and air port. Prices depends on how long you plan on staying. For more information call me at 649-8799.

TJ Angel 01-05-2005, 10:20 PM Hey Tanya W. good luck with your transportation business. You should do pretty well with that. So much transportation is needed to that place. I live in Stockton, and one of my friends catches the train from L.A. to my house, and I drive her to her visits in Folsom. It's not a bad drive for me either, only takes me 45 minutes, so I don't mind dropping her off and picking her up. But she said she did not know what she would have done with out me and our friendship.
There are so many bad people out there who want to take advantage of a situation just to use you, but what you are doing proves that there are good people still left. So I wish you the best of luck with your business.
