BUCKEYE - An inmate from the Arizona State Prison Complex-Lewis was hospitalized Thursday night after he was attacked by two other prisoners, authorities said.

Officials locked down the prison's Buckley Unit, one of six sections at the 4,112-inmate facility, immediately following the 7:30 p.m. incident, prison spokeswoman Cam Hunter said.

Hunter could not say what started the melee, nor could she describe the nature of the inmate's injuries or the type of weapon used. The hospitalized inmate, whose name was not released, was conscious and breathing when he was taken by helicopter to a hospital, Hunter said.

I havn't heard anything either and I am trying to get info all I know is that the news said the prison was locked down this morning and Im trying to see if visits have been canceled for all units

When I called this afternoon they said visits this weekend were on, but I don't know about the Buckley Unit.

A friend of mine called today & they said Sunday visits for Buckley were on hold for now & to call back on Saturday afternoon to see if they are on or not. I don't know if Saturday visits are canceled or not.
They wouldn't give her any information on the phone other than that.
My husband was supposed to call tonight, but obviously can't. : (

My friend just called main control and said that they should have saturday visits, but not sure to call in the morning around 7 or 8...

I called this morning and visits are on.

If you find anything out about the inmate when you visit this weekend - could you post it? I did not see any follow up in the news and I am wondering if he is okay. Thank you and enjoy your visits. Glad they were not cancelled!

I just got home from Lewis. Everybody knows about the stabbing but thats all their saying about it.

There was ANOTHER stabbing this week. Inmates were on lockdown on Buckley Unit. I heard from my husband on Thursday night. My friend called the prison & visits should be on for Christmas. I didn't hear anything about this one in the news.

I still have not heard from my pen-pal there from the last stabbing and it concerns me. He always wrote every week. If you find out any names from your husband can you PM me? That place is awful - they need to get some control in that unit - the stories I hear are unbelievable!!

My son told me about it today ! its like happening everyday! When I was leaving Lewis today so where some workers and they where talking about someone killing themself and they where laughing and joking about it.
I told them maybe they need to growup a little-that could of been your brother but he was someones son ! they looked to young to have kids thats why I said brother. But they said they where sorry . Its just so sad, its not a video game, you dont earn points and come back to life. Dead is dead thats it!

AZ Tears, were those COs making fun of someone killing themself? That would have upset me so much. I am so glad you said something to them and that they apologized. That place is so messed up!

When we left yesterday, they had another ambulance racing in, but everybody just took their sweet time and nobody would say a word of what was going on this time.

I'm out of town, so I haven't heard from my husband. If anyone sees a news story or hears anything about this new one, please let me know.

I haven't heard either. I was there yesterday morning and know they were having "issues" at Buckley and had to delay processing any visitors at the main gates.

The Morey Unit is on lockdown again tonight, but don't know the reason why.
They wouldn't say anything else on the phone.

morey is on lockdown often as are all the units there due to short staffing, often my man says they are down if there is trouble in another unit as there co's go there to help and leave them short.. the whole prison needs an overhaul for the better,, they were out and about this am as I spoke to my guy but it is crazy how often they are locked down .. I gave up counting when he did

good question.. as is it just due to the short staffing that causes this grief at lewis or are the other prisons dealing with this trouble as well ..

The last time I was at Florence a medic helicopter was flying out and I saw a lot of "orange" on board, and an ambulance was leaving the complex with the siren on. I don't think it is just Lewis, maybe we just are more aware of Lewis because of the hostage situation so they get more publicity?? Although my pen-pal who is in Buckley did say that Buckley is the worst place he has been to - there is a lot of stuff going on in that unit.
