Aren is doing alright. He called last weekend. He is on what the MN DOC calls a "Contract" He is currently still in the hole but has a chance to get out next week if he can stay out of trouble and keep his mouth quiet.

Never before have i had the Minnesota Department of Corrections call me at home. But the Lt. of his unit called yesterday, and asked what was going on with him. I guess my last few letters have made a difference. And a big thank you to Swtmel for her letters. His attitude is changing, and he from what the LT said, he really seems to know what he wants to do and to do the right thing. :eek: The LT had a 2 hour conversation with Aren about "life". :eek: From being within the DOC myself i don't often think of Officers taking that much time especailly in Prison to try and help, but a Unit LT, to top it off, If this does work, in combination with the letters from Mel and I, all I have to say is THANK YOU ALL. from the LT, to the guards, to all of you here on PTO who have let me vent about my struggles with aren. In my last phone call with him he seemed like he was doing some changing, but I really hope all of this has helped.

I have been wondering about Aren- I think the LT having a 2-hr conversation with him and calling you to discuss it is so encouraging- he is not being ignored- there are people there who do care what happens to him.You are doing such a great job supporting him -please keep us posted. :)

This is a step in the right direction. I'm glad Aren is knowing what he wants to do.
