First the best news - I had a special visit with my son over Thanksgiving. IT WAS WONDERFUL!!:D
I met two ladies who did not know about PTO. Given the size of Winslow, many of the folks at the motel are there for a prison visit as well. These ladies are lonely and think they are the only ones going through this nightmare. So I got their e-mail addresses and I'll tell them about this web site. I'm surprised more folks don't know about this site.
The guards at Winslow were really nice this time - both the ones at the gate and the ones inside. I was pleased. My only crime is loving someone who is in prison. They should be nice to me - and they were. This is a wonderful departure from Maricopa County! I see so many complaints about the guards that I felt I needed to say how nice and friendly they were.
The visitation room was kept at a good temperature despite the cold weather outside. There were lots of games - more than enough to go around. I was told that I could bring a new game (of the kind off the approved list) for us to play as long as it was in the original wrapper and I was willing to leave it at the visitation site.
We had Thanksgiving Lunch out of the vending machines. I was surprised that it was as good as it was. If you haven't tried the chocolate milk, you're missing something. It was great. My son said the vending machine food is better than what he gets on a daily basis. That's pretty sad. My favorite comment is - "the good news is". So "the good news is" I got to share Thanksgiving lunch with my son. That made the meal memorable. We can have a real Thanksgiving in 2007!
