Marinate, marinate, marinate. Red wine vinegar and olive oil and spices, if you can do that. Garlic. Worcester sauce, Mix a bunch of that and let it soak a few hours in the fridge before broiling. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

My man and i both enjoy new york strip, lean and tender. I usually only get it if its on sale though. You can find it on sale by weight... i usually spluge on a big one for him and a little one for me (i dont eat that much meat) Otherwise T-bone is a good choice. Usually, you can ask your local grocer to help you out and they can cut it fresh (not only just the stuff prewrapped in the bunkers)... i like to marinate with FRESH garlic, Adobo (meat seasoning) worsticer sauce, pepper and olive oil. I also add a little A1 prior to cooking to seal in more yummy flavor. The oil will keep it from drying out. i think some meats are better than others, but its what you do with it that will make it great.

I think you should go with the T-Bone as it looks the most like a pork chop!!!

I don't know about your area but we may be talking in the $20 range.

As for cooking them I'm not sure what your options are out there but if he is asking for a steak that acts like a porkchop I'd be pan frying that baby!!! I'd use worchester (sp) sauce, salt and pepper, garlic, mrs dash ( I don't cook ANYTHING without my mrs dash tho so dont mind me) I'd do sliced fresh onions and mushrooms sauteed in the meat juices near the end of cooking time so they aren't all limp and still have a bit of crunch to them (good texture w/the steak). Sides, what about sides? You gonna do baked potatoes??? I love steak and salad, or spinach sauteed with garlic in a bit of olive oil. Dang you're making me hungry!!!

I love to cook,
Patty

but ok, cool, i cant bring worchester sauce because it is in a bottle and I cant bring bottles to the trailer. I also cannot bring pepper, what is a substitute?

garlic, onions, peppers, got it.

do you put oil to fry it and how long do you fry it?

he is puertorican so he wants, rice beans, steak, yuca and platano maduro.:)

one day italian, one day latin :)

porter house steaks look like chops too...they have a large tenderloin part....i marinate in a sauce called teriaki and garlic...course if you can't find it just add garlic to the teriaki....look in the mexican section for it...be sure to peirce the meat while marinating but not while cooking....

this is the thing, whenevere I make steak, it comes out chewy and doesnt taste like anything :(
should I marinate it overnight? and how long do I cook a t-bone?
and I know porterhouse has a bone in it too, but they are SOOO expensive, no?

I cant bring in teriaki sauce, they all come in bottles, and no bottles are allowed.

I like to marinate my in dales steak sauce. Or you can marinate it in Dr Pepper over night in an air tight container is good but several hours will work. I grill mine so someone else will have to give you ideas of how to cook it---what about a little george forman grill can you use that???

I must be the only one who slow bakes steaks in the oven. I use all of the same herbs, spices and stuff as everyone has suggested; but I have made the most tender steaks in the world, I mean they literally fall off the bone, right in the oven. I slow cook them on 275 degrees for like 2-3 hours and they turn out perfect every time!!!

Manzanita
12-12-2004, 05:50 PM
hey, what kind of steaks do you cook?

I usually always cook T-Bones or Porterhouse. They are pricier; but since I only eat them occassionally they are soooo worth the money!

I ended up going to a really good butcher and getting a couple of T-Bones...for about $20....but let me tell you......soooooooooooo worth it! They came out so perfect! Like BUTTA!!

I marinated them in Worschestire Sauce, salt and garlic powder...and then cooked them in the broiler for about 12 mts 6 on each side... and they were so tender and juicy too, and not red, just like I like it! My husband was in HEAVEN, he even sucked on the bone...His steak was huge and it swallowed it all down!

Thanks for the help everyone!

What about pork steak, country fried steak, T-bone or a porterhouse? I love steak, yummy LOL. I like to marinate my steaks over night and put in a little extra seasonings. They sell marinades at the grocery stores. ( I guess I was too late haha )
