View Full Version : Implementing new Software causing Release Delays
sherriehicks 11-28-2004, 12:08 PM :( Hello all, I haven't been online in a while, so I hope everyone is doing fine and managing their situations thru-out these holidays. I wanted to see how many others this new Computer System has effected! My son's release date from Anthony Correctional was the week of Thanksgiving, he has completed all required Phases with NO write-ups or problems, only to be told by his case manager that due to this new system that the WV DOC is installing, all releases are put on hold until Dec. 14th (they said they couldn't have people coming and going) :blah: :blah: So he is now volunteering for work detail just to keep himself occupied! I received a call from him today saying that the case manager now is telling him that if Judge Swope (over in Princeton, Mercer County) does not get him in for his Court Hearing to be placed on Probation exactly on Dec. 14th that there is a very good chance that he will be stuck there until after the 1st of the year!!! This makes no sense to me at all, can anyone else shed some possible light on this to help me understand? Thanks in advance.
justvicki 11-28-2004, 04:46 PM Sherrie,
Good to see you on-line again. For some reason I thought your son was already with you in NC! In any case, you might try sending a PM to PTO member persuasive. He just might be able to give you some insight about this problem.
Take care!
pursuasive 11-30-2004, 08:40 AM Your information is accurate, but your time frame is off.
I am told the new software / system will go on line in February 2005. There will be no inmate movement bewteen 1/31 and 2/15/05. This has no bearing on your son.
ACC while a 6 month to 2 yr program, it is now taking approx 8 to 81/2 months to complete it, due to the etension of programs being offered, which is for the betterment of the person. Your son's discharge date is 12-14-04. The ACC after their dictation/transription will send that report to the Judge and once that report has been received, his hearing date will be set ASAP according to the court's docket. Judge Swopes policy is once they have completed the program, they are remanded back to SRJ. This is a result of past instances where they were released back out under their orginal bond, but no one knew where they were, they relapsed or commit a new crime so he now has them held. I would predict you will have your son home by Christmas, unless he gets writes up between now and his discharge date which could add days onto his time there. It's almost over....
sherriehicks 12-02-2004, 04:34 PM Pursuasive; I want to say Thank you for your information and Insite:) The time frame you listed is right in line with the amount of time he has done. 11-18-04 was the 8 month mark. On Tuesday he was called into the Asst. Wardens office and told personally that the release order (effective 12-14-04) was mailed out by him. And that the judge would have it by Wednesday 12-02*04, so based upon your info. you are saying that on the on or about the 14th (based upon the court calendar he will be sent back to SJR to wait for the hearing: Correct? As you may or may not know, we are down here in SC, do you think he will get any advance notice of the court date?
Thanks again, your information is very helpful.

sherriehicks 12-02-2004, 04:40 PM Hey Vicki,
I haven't been online, because a Thunderstorm competely took out my computer and it took me awhile to get back on my feet:) ya know:) My son has managed to go thru all the phases without catching (1) write up. That is very encouraging to us. Now it is down to 10 days and a wake-up:D It has definetly been along time.. I hope to return to WV to pickup and wiser young man than I sat beside back in the Winter. And from the sound of his letters I believe that is what we have.. I know Time Will Tell. But, I do know that this website is a life Saver. :) and I wish all the VERY POSSIBLE BEST FOR THE UPCOMING HOLIDAYS;)
Talk to ya soon.
Sherrie
Sherrie,

pursuasive 12-02-2004, 05:58 PM Adrian Hoke is the ass't warden or he saw Tammie Alderman. I would "guess" yes, he'll be sent back to SRJ or about the 14th. Rest assurd that as soon as the court gets the report the secretary will set the hearing for th first avaiable date. But they CANNOT proceed until they get it. Judge wants them back in court ASAP coz his time sitting there is costing the county money and his judge is a compassionate man ( or he would have sent him off when he screwed up the probation the first time) and I know he would like to get him home before Christmas. Oh yea, that report will also be mailed to this PO so check with the PO.
And I hope he transfers to your state and gets a better shake at starting over. Probabilty for success dramatically increases when they leave the area and those ******* they ran with before who are still hanging around just waiting for him to return and join back in. Thats the natureof people.
Good luck mam and to your son.
pursuasive 12-02-2004, 06:01 PM SHERRIE - if the report was mailed out 12-2 and the judgegets it this week or next, he could appear in court as soon a the 15th.
pursuasive 12-03-2004, 01:50 PM SHERRIE - so you'll know, your son's Court date in Mercer County before the Judge is Wednesday December 15th at 1:00 pm.

sherriehicks 12-18-2004, 07:26 AM Morning guys;
Just wanted to let you know that everything with my Sons release did in fact pretty much go off with hitch. The Interstate Transfer will take about a month. So we will have to return to WV next month. But he is here in SC with us and seems to be adjusting just fine.
He definetly seems like a different young man, so the Anthony Center did help him tremendously. He was lucky enough to get a Judge that believed in 2nd chances and BELIEVES in the Anthony Center Program, and to have a Probation Office comprised of individuals that are willing to offer assistance when they see that a change has occured in an individual and a second chance is warranted.
I hope all of your situations turn out with Positive Results.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, from SC
Sherrie, Dennis & Anthony
justvicki 12-18-2004, 08:06 PM Sherrie,
That is such good news. Anthony is a fortunate young man, and I know he appreciates the judge that gave him his second chance, the probation officers who are really very good people and do care, and a family who stood by him. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you!!!!!!!!!!
pursuasive 12-18-2004, 08:37 PM Vicki - you'd be proud, I took good care of Sherrie. Merry Christmas!
sherriehicks 12-19-2004, 05:57 AM Vicki, yes in deed Pursuave did in FACT help us out a GREAT DEAL:D I had no idea what he looked like, but Dennis & I were sitting in the CourtRoom and this face appeared in the glass door, and somehow I just knew this was the person that saved me from having to buy an extra bottle of CLARIOL lol:thumbsup:
