View Full Version : Intro--Shan & Kev from Canada
Shan & Kev 04-18-2002, 08:23 PM Hi All :)
I have been lurking and reading your posts for a month now.
Time to come outta the woodwork and introduce myself.
My man is currently locked up for the remainder of his parole which is likely until Feb/03. Unfortunately there are charges against him for an Armed Robbery which occurred while he was AWOL on his parole. He has just finished a 14 year bit and is scared to death about facing another long stretch inside. We are not married legally so are facing proving our common law status to the Pen so we can have conjugals.
I have two sons, 14 and 12, who keep me very busy.
I hope to gain some hope, experience and understanding from the wonderful people I see posting to this forum :)
Although you are unaware of it, just reading your posts and sharing you experiences has helped me tremendously this past month.
Keep the Faith....Always.

I am glad you have found comfort and support, but am also happy that you have come out of the woodwork... :)
It's nice to meet you and welcome to PTO!!!
Hope to hear more from you....
Fed-X 04-18-2002, 10:07 PM I was sort of getting use to seeing your IP Address and "Guest" :p :) Just kidding! Welcome to PTO and glad you joined!
Please keep us up to date with your situation! We have quite a few Cannucks (spelling?) on PTO and they may be able to help with info on non-married / common law visitation rights, etc..
Again, glad you found us!

Shan & Kev 04-18-2002, 11:07 PM My man just called me and told me they approved us this morning for the visits. I am pumped. The "little lady" in me says it is because we can be alone without prying eyes and ears to discuss the things all couples need to discuss. The little devil in me has other things in mind.:p
I am sure we got the visits with the help of friends and family who wrote letters on our behalf to the Institution ppl stating that we did live together as husband and wife before he got arrested. I wrote a heart-wrenching plea myself that I hope made a difference. All I know is I feel like I can deal with anything thrown my way now that we can be together like this approximately every 60 days :)
I would be more than happy to help anyone out in this neck of the woods regarding how we went about it and even referrals to the law office who wrote up the Status of Common-Law contract we had drawn up in advance.
You all have a happy friday....i know I will
:fb:
Keep the Faith,
Shannon

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome.... Really glad you finally came out of the woodwork...... Boy! if it took you a month, we must have been real impressive.... This is a wonderful site with many many caring people..... We have built a real fellowship here for us loved ones of incarcerated family....
Boy, you little devil you, I don't blame you about the visits... My future daughter-in-law (Renee) love muffin, would love to be in your shoes.... She cannot even go on a regular visit. Her and Butch wanted to be married in May, but it does not look like that will happen. Go to her intro and post a reply. She would love to hear from you. She cannot get on her PC too often because it is a work PC
My Best Wishes for your visit
Donna

I have to admit though, I am jealous about the conjugal visits!!!! I havn't even gotten to visit Juan since last December. That boy better be in great shape when he gets home!!!!!!
Again, welcome.
