Old Folsom inmates need help! Some of the Old Folsom prison guards while the men were on lock down began working on plan to get all the hobby tools taken from the men. They state the reason being that they are fearful of the tools being used as weapons. Now the hobby program has been up and running for 80 years and there has never been even 1 incident where a hobby tool was used.
These men need this hobby program, they need their tools to make items for hobby. Please please write, call and email the Director of CDC and the Warden at Old Folsom and let them know that we are watching and how badly these men need their hobby tools, not only too keep them busy but so they can support themselves on the inside.

The Director of CDC is:

Jeanne Woodford jeanne.woodford@corr.ca.gov

and the Wardens info:

Michael Knowles, Warden (A)
300 Prison Road
Represa, CA 95671

P.O. Box 71
Represa, CA 95671
(916) 985-2561

Thank you in advance! Don't let them take these tools away from these men!

Total Support

From having read many threads, it is my understanding that the wardens have total control for each prison in regard to many rules. The guards have an entirely separate control by the force of their union.

It would be my advice to look up the mission statement of the prison and use it with all letters and phone calls. In addition, the stated educational goals/guidelines should be quoted.

Perhaps the warden needs to be made aware of the immediate concerns with the guards if they are just now expressing life-threatening situations about this issue, and before they can enact their force with something contractual.

If you can cite no relationship between hobby tools and injury to inmates and guards alike, the better.

This is just another example of the lack for reform and support for educational/vocational opportunities with a combined coalition of the prison advocacy groups within this state. Shame on us for not demanding such, and shame on us for whining instead of acting.

Questions within this forum certainly provide needed emotional support, but the answers to resolving our ever-needing factual/rules/visitation/packages support lack a final resolution for us. We still keep on asking about the basics.

This again, is the perfect place for emotional support, but will not provide open advocacy. If you want to be a part of changes for your loved one, look elsewhere or work with what you have here, perhaps by demand or private emails.

Keep this place for emotional concerns, but stretch beyond yourself and think about your loved one and reach out to all within this forum. Whatever happens to your loved one happens to all: your letters don't get through, visitation hours suck, packages cost more through vendors, your loved one has a medical crisis.....the list is endless.

It appears that there may be as many as 20,000 members here. Prop 66 may have not have been defeated if we had all spent the time to educate and email members with pms if needed. We, as a group, should have gone through our list and made sure that we have all of the support needed from our members. The letter to Judge Henderson proved a dismal result for support also. We should have networked for that same issue by sending pms if needed.

As the loved ones of incarcerated individuals, it is our duty to support and promote the rights of all prisoners, regardless of our personal (it is just me and my man) perspective on any issue.

I would like to see an email forum within this website that allows all important information to be sent to all members with just one click. I have this option as a student: to send messeges of importance to all members.

As a member of PTO, you would have the opportunity to opt out, but in addition, you would be allowed to be informed of issues that you did not know may influence your love ones' life.

Oops, this may be more than my two cents worth.

It may have been more than your two cents worth, but it probably needed to be heard. Sometimes we forget that together, we can make the necessary changes in our failing system. Sometimes we don't know how. Sometimes it is a fear of the punishments that our loved one may get, due to our efforts. Thanks for enlightening us. As for the "one click information", I think it is an excellent idea! Good Luck to those working to keep the hobby tools for Old Folsom. My loved one may not be there, but things tend to work in a domino effect. ( ie: CO's win there, then others will follow) Take Care and God Bless!
