I recently bought a glass block light (holiday oriented) for xmas. I think they are so neat, that i have considered to start making them myself to sell on ebay, give as gifts etc. Basically, what it is is a glass block, with a hole drilled into the back/bottom, a strand of xmas lights are inserted to light it up and the outside is decorated.

Check out this link for an example of what i mean. My question is, do you like this "look" or "craft"? How much would you be willing to spend on something like this depending on if it was done exactly the way you wanted? There are so many variations... Plain with pictures, bows, glue on trinkets, etc. Think baby sized items for a nursery night light, or whatnot... the place that was selling them also had the lights put into fancy/pretty wine/champagne bottles too. How creative >for a bar or whatever!!! SO PRETTY. please i need feedback here :)

These are kind of plain but nice...

I think they're very cute! I don't know how much I'd pay... $20-$30 depending on how much decoration there is?

Sign me up! I want one!

i got it from a crafting consignment store. I think you can possibly search for them online and buy them from a crafter...i paid 19.95. its pretty plain, white lights, with a irridecent snowman bow around it, the glass has that "standard" pattern grade, which makes the lights kinda prisimy. I am going to talk to my uncle about getting the holes drilled or if he knows where i can get the glass blocks. I will let you all know when i decide to do these :) I would love to start making them, they are soooo cute. and if i could do custom orders, oh that would be great

I bet Lowe's or Home Depot has those blocks. Good luck in your venture!

Blocks are $3-4 on that link.

Also check out Ebay...there are numerous blocks like the ones you were showing on there. Many are starting at $10...but they're very blah!

Could you put pictures on the front? If you scanned the pics, put them on paper, printed 'em out and pasted 'em? I think that'd be a great type of personalization!

yes, i think you could scan and kinda "decoupage" them on? I was reading about krylon clear coating them on, etc. so many ideas! I dont think i would want to sell them on ebay. They are the kind of thing you would want to see up close and in person prior to buying. im thinking they might make quick nice xmas gifts. especially if i can decorate the borders with ribbons/trinkets instead of decoupaging per say, and the light strands are only 1.00 at the the Dollar Tree.
