I am so upset! My boyfriend just got transferred to Jackie Brannon in McAlester and I have always been on his visitation list at the facility he was at before. Well, Jackie Brannon is saying they didn't get his previous list so I cant visit for 30 days! They said only immediate family can see him until a whole new visitation request form is submitted and approved, and it has to be at least 30 days! Is this correct????

Jeffs,
I'm so sorry to hear this!! I'm not sure what prison he came from but if by chance it was private like Holdenville then yes thats possible.
I had to be "reapproved" when Tony got moved from Holdenville to Key's in Ft Supply.
I'm now his wife so they can't keep me away :) Good luck hon and Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm going through this with you too. My guy just got transferred to Joseph Harp from Lawton after 2 years and they won't let me visit until I'm approved again either. We're married so I did get the one time 30 day visit but I had to fight tooth and nail for that too (and in the process, he got griped out for me "calling up there and causing trouble"!)

It sucks, there's no other way to put it. We've now missed our anniversary, Thanksgiving, and will probably miss his birthday and Christmas all because of that rule. And we had just made our Christmas visit plans for Lawton a week before they shipped him out. I'm sorry you're having to go through this too, but at least we can whine and moan about it together ;)

It is a common practice and alot of times the decisions is left up to the prison Jackie Brannon is affiliated with OSP beiong right on the same property basically and they do require a new list everytime. I had just made it on my fiancees list when they moved him from Stringtown to TWHM also part of OSP complex and I had to go through the process again and it had only been a month since I was approved at Stringtown. Sorry.

Jeff got transferred from Cimmarron in Cushing to Jackie Brannon. I just can't believe that they just transfer these guys and just throw them in there with no contact with us or anything. I mean, he has no way of making phone calls to us or anything, and his mom and I are worried sick. And then when I try to call, since I'm not a blood relative, just a girlfriend, they don't want to help me at all. I am so sorry to hear that your going through this too, it sucks so bad. I miss him so much, those people dont realize just how much it helps for them to be able to have contact with their loved ones. I'm going through this with you too. Happy thanksgiving to all of you too! Yes, it was a private prison in Cushing that he came from, but let me ask you this-if I am still listed as a "friend" on his visit list( I always put friend instead of girlfriend, just out of habit) does that matter? I mean, would they be any more helpful if they knew I was his girlfriend?Jeffs,

Sadly no, they don't really care if you're just a friend or more. Actually, they don't give you any extra respect being married either. You get that one visit if you can get through to someone to ok it but that's it. All we have is to play by their rules. Where we win is not letting them get the best of us. I really do feel that they do all this to *weed* out those visitors who just don't care much, that way they don't have to deal with them. If they could, I think they would do away with visiting all together.

So don't let them win! You love him and want to be there for him so do it no matter how long it takes. Vent on here and scream at the walls but keep at it if that's what you want. That's what I'm doing even though they keep trying to knock me down at every turn lately. We'll get through this, I promise ya :grouphug:

Your an angel, I am so lucky to have this kind of support. You see , this is all new to me. I had never even been to a prison to visit someone before this, I had no idea all the mess it involved. And then of course it breaks my heart getting letters from him that say how he can't wait to see me again, and how he hopes I got all this resoved. He has no idea that they said it would be 30 days! And of course since he can't call, it will take the time for the mail to get through, and I was supposed to go up there today! So he's gonna just have to sit there and be disappointed when I dont show up. I am so sad. WE NEED THESE VISITS, they are what keep us looking toward the future, ya know? But it really helped to hear your words of encouragement, THANK YOU:))) I am really trying to not let them break me down.Sadly no, they don't really care if you're just a friend or more.
