My boyfriend wants to give his daughter his 13 inch tv. We no longer have the box it came in so he wants it in a "special" box. You know, the fancy kind where there is a cover that slips over the top and hangs down about 2-3 inches. I don't care what it is made out of, cardboard or wood, but it has to be sturdy enough to hold a tv. It doesn't need to be shipped in the box, but it will need to be moved around some, so it can't be flimsy. I found a company that makes custom boxes online and they quoted me $25 bucks! For CARDBOARD!
Does anyone know how I can find a box like that? Are there companies/stores that sell them? Even if it is a kit that I assemble it myself, that would be fine. I'm not sure of the exact size, but I do know that cardboard boxes that computer paper comes in aren't big enough. (But that has the right kind of top on it.)
HELP ME, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!11

Hold everything is a catalogue with storage ideas and products, but attractive storage ideas.

I was thinking of a crate of some sort, available at michales, target, just about anywhere...you could make a top yourself and after she opens her gift it could be used as a stand, maybe on her desk or bureau. You could paint a wooden one to match her decor, or buy a plastice one that matches...lol or steal one from behind your local grocers!!!

Thanks Wingy, I checked there but nothing seems right. I had another idea. If I could find a very simple wooden box to put it in, one that could have wheels put on it later, the gift box could then become the tv stand. A crate with openings in between the slats wouldn't work or look really nice (for what my guy wants).
Are there any places out there that sell simple wooden boxes this large that can be assembled at home?

Try going to a store that sells tvs. They have display televisions that they removed from a box. Perhaps if you ask them, they will give a tv box before they throw it away.

I'll try there, Cyndi. I just didn't think they'd have a box that big.
What I need is a friendly old man who has lots of time on his hands, likes to do woodworking and would make me one for cheap. ;)

You could get a storage box from Staples -- they use it to store papers and such and it has handles -- you could decorate it really nice and then she could use it to store toys and such
