There is a place called Walkenhorsts (800) 660-2555 or you can log onto their website. You should check it out. My cousin is in Corcoran also and I just got a letter from him with that information because he wanted me to send him 2 CD's.

Hope that helps.:)

We use Circut City on line and Amazon.com for our loved ones and we've had no problems at all.

Hey- just go to amazon.com and you can order, no they don't have to send you anything. If you 're going to send books, they can not be hard cover, other than that they are easy. I just sent my husband the chronic 2001 cd, how funny huh, lol, he wanted it though but dang some old school huh? I have sent my husband all kinds of cd's and books, I sent him some from ann rice, and that once called soul for prisoners or something like that...I am sorry I foget that one. But go on there, there are a lot of options. I sent my husband a cd and a package for Christmas...plus I buy him stuff for when he comes home he can open. Have fun, I love shopping for my man, oh and on Amazon, they give you an option of gift wrap, I dont' gift wrap but you can write a little note next to each item, so he can get a little sweet note from you plus his gift. Have fun!

I never thought of using Circuit City. I usually order off of Amazon. It is real easy you just pick what you want type in the address of where its supossed to be delivered pay for it and they send it out. FYI: I accidentally bought my man a used cd form someone who was selling their own cd's on Amazon and they arent allowed to get anything unless its from a vendor.

Cara~ I have either never paid attention or never saw that you can write a note to them. How special! I am going to have to remember that for next time.

You can also send CD's through Best Buy. Through the web site.

I have sent books from Amazon.com. I don't have a credit card so what I did was go to Borders book store (they are affiliated w/ amazon.com) and you can use their gift cards online as credit cards. It's cool. Also, as an experiment, I sent him a used book off of amazon.com, just to see if it would get through, and they let him have it. So, from now on, it's used books, which is really good for saving $. Hubby is at CRC, so I don't know about other prisons.

Sorry to reply to this thread twice! The types of books I sent were pretty erotic in nature, but that's what he asked for so that's what he got!!! Needless to say, he loved the books, and when he was done, he sold them for more then I paid for them  Some other ideas, look on the amazon.com bestsellers list and see if they have any fiction that might interest him. At CRC they can't get hardback books, only soft cover.

Are Circuit City And Best Buy Approved Vendors? And Don't You Need The Package Label?

a series of books that is popular with the guys where my husband is ... "Woman on top" and the Nany Hamilton series. They all loved it. as far as CD's I believe that's a Special purchase in most California prisons, you need a slip. You can call the R&R department and they will be able to tell you. Oh, and I have sent used books from Amazon and never had a problem. It's cheaper

F.Y.I. If your man is at Corcoran they can only get CD'S through Amazon...I did send one time from barnes and noble they told me it would be refused from the mail room but it got through, don't know how...but just to be safe I would stick to Amazon.com.

I know this thread was about Christmas gifts, but I wanted to add one other cool thing I've found about Amazon.com... you can set up a "Wish list," with a list of books and CDs that he wants to make it easy for others to send things as well. That's what I'm working on now, with books that he's told me he wants, and I'll send a link by email to all of his family and friends. I've had a lot of people asking me what they can send him, and so this makes it easy for them.

My brother is in a California State Prison (specifically, Salinas Valley State Prison) and he wanted to have books (that I've bought) sent to him in prison. He has requested a great deal of books and I have found that there are used books available via Borders' website. Can I send used books? Has anyone done that before? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
