It depends how fast you drive to get to me... I live approx. two hours from there. There are no bus or taxi's services for me to use to go and see my loved one. Even though I have read many horror stories about them. But I'm grateful that I have a car to go and see him... only one more visit for us and then he comes home!

I live about 45 minutes east of the city with out the famous traffic on the LIE. There is no bus service from here for me to take to visit. Since it is a 5 hour drive up to where he is, I plan on visiting once a month as long as the weather is good. It's not so bad since I hopefully have another 5 months if he gets shock parole.

I live in Queens, so that's about 10-20 minutes from Manhattan depending on which bridge I take. He is only in Sing Sing , that's about 45 minutes north of the city. ANd luckily I have a car, so I can go everyother weekend.
Hey nicksgirl, just curious, where on the island do you live?

I am about as far as you can get and still be in NY!
I think it is about 300 miles to NYC from Rochester. :)

Starzzmom,

I live on the border of the Nassau and Suffolk Counties very close to the North Shore. To be exact, exit 44 on what is known around here as the worlds longest parking lot, the LIE.

oh i know the LIE all to well. I take it everyday to work from Queens to Exit 33. I also have friends and family that live out on the island, so I was just curious as to where.

I know exit 33 very well. I had an Great Aunt that lived in Great Neck. I also had some surgery done at North Shore Manhasset Hospital as well as many trips to Doctor's when I was growing up.

I am really right of the LIE and the Seaford Oyster Bay South. You can walk to my house. If you are ever going to be in the area, let me know.

I work for the hospital, but offsite in Great Neck.
I know where you live - I think that is the same exit for my cousins house.
