View Full Version : Help! Pleasant Valley visiting questions
qwerty 11-11-2004, 06:45 PM HI! I'll be visiting Pleasant Valley in a month or so, I hope! I love that they have appointments...
Is it true that the tables are normal adult height, not "kiddie" sized?
Can you and your guy can walk around? (oooh, I got backaches at Lancaster)
Can close custody inmates go on the patio?
Is there a line of cars to get in?
Is it pretty laid back as far as dress code, hugging, etc?
Thanks to anyone who knows!!
qwerty 11-13-2004, 06:39 PM Yoo-hoo.... anybody out there?? :)
California Sunshine 11-15-2004, 11:28 PM No personal info to share as I have never been but I found this basic info on the web
Visiting parking. No problem at PVSP. No one at the guard shack entrance. You just drive in;
park your car (windows all closed, no cracks or damaged windows - they have workers outside
the fence, so they'll pull you out of visiting if you leave windows down - whatever!) Anyways
then you just walk in to visiting room. Can't be in there before the allotted time 8:30am
but no hassle parking. The road in is patrolled heavily by CHP and they get allot of
revenue giving tickets to speeders though.
All visitors must not wear clothing that resembles State-issued inmate clothing; blue chambray shirts,
denim jackets, blue-black-gray-or acid washed color denim clothing/articles or orange jumpsuits.
These restriction apply to any combination of the colors or materials,
Gray, white, blue or black jogging clothes, sweatshirts and/or sweat pants, white or black T-shirts.
NUMBER OF VISITORS: No more than six visitors per inmate, including children shall be allowed to
visit at one time.
Visitors are no longer allowed to bring in cigarettes.
Photo ducats are bought at the gift store, when open.
Cost: Two dollars in Quarters only.
No Iockers are available; items should be secured in your vehicle.
COUNT TIME: Minimum Facility count times: Saturday and Sunday at 12:00am:
General Population Close Custody counts:
Saturday and Sunday 1:00pm
To avoid any delay or inconvenience in your visit, we recommend that
visitors arrive one hour and thirty minutes prior to count time.

grbrblue 10-13-2005, 10:30 AM PVSP is off of Hwy 5 and Jayne Avenue in the City of Coalinga. I believe it is about 4 hours from you. There are a few hotels on the freeway with easy access - Motel 6, Travelodge and Harris Ranch (expensive). You can make online reservations for Motel 6 and save a few dollars. There are a few older hotels in the town of Coalinga, but I haven't seen any I like. Never stay at the Royal Hotel or Lodge, trust me never.
There are a few restaurants next to Motel 6 and Travelodge - Burger King, McDonalds, Carls, Red Robin, Denny's and a good mexican restaurant (name escapes me) that is affordable.
There are a few gas stations - Chevron, Circle K and more on each corner. But try to have gas before you get there because it is very expensive at the AM/PM on Jayne (on the way to PVSP), and the stations near the hotels.
sofiey 10-13-2005, 11:28 AM cali i'm going to pick up my son in a week but that is on a sunday. i hear that it opens at 800 how would i get in. if i go early do i stay in line with familys that are going to visit or is there another line for releases
qwerty 10-14-2005, 09:57 PM sofiey,
Whoops this is an old thread, I'm a PV veteran now :).
Last time I went they started letting us in at 7:30. There is another lane for clergy, etc. so if I were you I'd get in that lane and tell the guard why you're there. They are pretty friendly at the gate.
grbrblue, thanks for the tip about the Royal Hotel!
