My boyfriend is in County right now. Do you know if you can send anything to them for Christmas?

Moved to Alabama, assuming your boyfriend is in Alabama. You will probably get more appropriate answers here. :)

No need to be sorry Cate, you're a newbie so you're forgiven. :) After your 100th post, if you keep on posting in the wrong forum, I'll start the spanking !! :D

Hopefully, someone from Alabama will soon pop in and answer your question. :)

Good luck.

Hi Cate! :) Welcome to the Alabama forum. I believe your best bet would be to call the county jai and ask them what can be sent. I know it varies from county to county. I know when my son was in one county jail, we could mail books, magazines, paper, pencils, socks, underwear, and tee shirts. He was in one other county jail that only allowed a Bible. So, to be safe, call and ask.

Glad to see you!

Okay... I just called and the woman was actually pretty nice. They haven't come up with an answer yet, so she told me to call back Monday. Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the Alabama forum!!!!! :D Glad to have ya with us.
I would suggest what Kay suggested (about calling the jail) but, it looks like you already did that (yes, I'm late as usual). Hopefully they'll give you an answer on Monday though...

Again...Welcome to the Alabama forum...and don't worry about Phil...I won't let him start the spanking... LOL (love ya, Phil) :p

I called yesterday, like they told me to, and the news is we can't send ANYTHING :(
But we'll get around it - he'll get †-mas cards and lots of decorations and letters. Still, that's kinda harsh on the county's part...

Cate...sorry to hear that. I thought that might be the case. They have really cracked down on things being sent because so many people try to abuse that priviledge by sending in contraband. :(

Just try to be creative...send him a decorated tree with presents for him underneath...on computer paper of course.. :) I am sure he will understand and appreciate any thought! Can you add a couple dollars to his books? He could buy his own present at the store.

:)

Okay- I know I called once, but do ya'll think i should call again to check about what can be sent to county jails for Christmas? It just doesn't seem logical that some prisons have gift packages and jails don't? I dunno....
Alex hasn't heard anything so I doubt the news will change if I call back.
what do ya'll think?

Sure...call back. Don't ask can you send anything for Christmas. Just ask them are you allowed to send anything by mail...socks, underwear, paper, pens, shampoo, soap, etc. They might not allow Christmas packages but they might allow those items. It's worth a try. If they say no to those items....then ask...you mean I can send NOTHING?

Good luck! I hope it works out!

P.S.
I have my son's Christmas card all made. It has a large tree in the middle, with all our family members around (I drew us funny!) There are presents under the tree with my son's name on them. I hope he laughs a little...cause we all look pretty funny!

Is your husband in Etowah County? They have already told me everything is required to be BOUGHT by the inamte - so they probably bought out the prices. If so, please post a topic on this if you know anything about it... so far the fact that you're not allowed to bring anything to your people is the only thing I know about this jail.
