Does anyone have any info or knowledge of a case that was either Elmwood or Elwood vs US appartently that was in 1st or 9th district that would have favorable outcomes for many inmates?

Supposedly, it is suppose to make inmates eligible for Half way house much sooner than is the norm.

MY son is hearing this at a FPC and wanted me to find out more or if there is any validity to it.

This is an 8th Circuit decision. Illinois is in the 7th Circuit.

If the decison is in federal court( Elwood vs Jeeters 8th circuit) shouldn't it apply to all federal inmates?
Where can I read more about recent decisions in the Federal System? I found it once......but can't remember how to get to it!

No, an 8th Circuit decision is ONLY good law in the 8th Circuit, it is merely advisory everywhere else. Also, be aware that (at least according to the Gov't) that Elwood has very specific facts.
