I have a PP and yes he's a loved one just like they all are. I would love to go but a bit scarey isn't it on your own. I have contacts with BA Airlines and work for a worldwide car rental company so that will keep the cost down a great deal. Hey why don't us brits plan a trip for next year.

san rafael is across the bay from the airport but closer to san quentin. look in richmond for hotels closer to san quentin :)

My husband is on death row in San Quentin. I travel from Oregon to see him quite often and am very familiar with the San Francisco, San Rafael, Sausalito, Richmond, Novato area. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Christopher Poore, my Brother became a tenant on Quentin's Death Row (AC) at the tender young age of 30, in 1999. I miss him and want to see him free again! I am planning a visit for the week of Dec 26-Jan 3. Does anyone know of a way to book a visit without having to become a radio prize winner by phone? Additionally, I have seen two numbers to book a visit 415 455 5022 & 5023, anyone know which will improve my chances of seeing Christopher?

i have a loved one in SQ on DR :o but i was kind of lazy with writing lately so one of my NEW YEARS resolutions is to step up and write more often!!!

I have a friend , on the Row ... he is dear to my heart...but I live too far away to visit ... maybe someday..for now we have our letters and calls .

My older brother is on DR in SQ. He is still in the adjustment center and I am hoping to be able to go see him next month or the month after depending on finances. We live in WA and I want to bring his new niece down. We named her after him since he won't be having any kids of his own.

I HAve a friend at san quention, a nice motel to stay near the prison is the national 9 motel, only about 4 minutes from san quenton, i sometimes walked from that motel to the prison and they also have a very good bus service that stoips at san quentin prison and is regular, hope it helps, but there are lots of motels on the same block as national nine motel in san rafiel

Not sure what some people will make of it, but I just wanted to say that having been away for a while to contemplate my naval, I'm can now regard myself as 'officially' one of this special crowd, having just moved up from the "Friends" forum and become a fully fledged member of the SQ DR "Loving" crew. So, to those who I have not spoken to yet, a very big hello from the UK. And to those wonderful women who I already know, and have not been in touch for quite awhile........I'm back girls!!!

i have a friend there, he writes weekly.

I do....hes been in her for 24 years and just got his sentence reversed....
This week he will be moved back to L A county to see if they will retry
his penalty phase........after that I have no idea where he will be moved ..
The idea that his new place will have less visiting maybe even no contact
like we are used to.....is freightening..this is supposed to be a good thing but i am finding it nerve wracking......... after all this time he now has to get another lawyer to represent him...........and people wonder why appeals take so long .....this new lawyer will take alot of time to familiarize himself with the facts of his case.....after 24 years..
Its all crazy making......he had the best lawyer....got it reversed...and who knows how long this will take.........

That's great news that he is finally off DR after all of this time.

I know it must be frightening and after so many years everything being new and different is enough to freak anyone out but just look at the steps that you're both making in the right direction.

I wish you well and hope that everything in the future is worth the current fear.

In answer to the initial thread yep my guy is on SQDR and has been there for about fifteen years but stories like yours keep me ever hopeful.

Is every muder charge considered for death row in the US?? I'm from Canada and my b/f is in jail for manslaughter...I feel for you ladies with loved ones on death row...your system is harsh...take care

I feel silly for even asking but it is a serious question that my husband has. I had looked up CCSP site and noticed quite a few pen pal requests. I told my husband and he was ok with it.


I write to 2 high profile men and we have now been writing for months, I wish for the names to be anonymous. I am sure you all understand. I felt that I wanted to extend our support to others. I have a brother that is in KY (in London KY), recently setanced to 3 years.

My husband is a Jr. High teacher and very loving etc. and the fact that he is willing to spend money to give these men stamps, supplies etc is very generous for him to do. I am a stay at home mom to a 19 month old and a 2 1/2 year old. I will be done with my Master's degree in Forensic Science in April 2008. I hope to help a lot of people with it. I am also a retired teacher, ha stopped before baby #1.

He is worried that if I write to some of these men that if they are married or with another woman that the woman would get upset or jealous.

It seams silly but I thought for his piece of mind I would ask. Thanks.

If you know of anyone that does not get that much mail, I would more than happy to write to them.

My dad is visiting and I am asking him how his time was at SQ, for he was later found not guilty for armed robbery. This forum has helped me finally talk to him.
