YES ON 66 LEADS FIELD POLL
Californians Support Fixing 3 Strikes,
Not Being Deceived by Opponents' Scare Campaign

A statewide Field Poll released today showed Proposition 66, the
Fix Three Strikes Initiative on the November 2 ballot, leading by a
margin of 55 percent to 33 percent.

Yes on 66 campaign leader Joe Klaas said the poll results are
encouraging, even though the poll showed the lead shrinking somewhat in the
past month. "We're ahead because we've got the right message, that
repeat violent criminals belong in prison for life, lesser non-violent
offenders deserve more appropriate sentences, and the waste of billions of
dollars must stop," he said.

"But the opposition has narrowed the margin somewhat through
dishonest, misleading fear tactics. But voters are not being deceived by the
false claims of opponents. They understand that Prop. 66 will restore
our Three Strikes law to what voters originally intended: life sentences
for violent offenders, not for possession of marijuana or shoplifting
videotapes. We will fight hard these last few days of the campaign and
enact this common-sense, logical reform."
