OXFORD, Miss. (AP) A man who escaped during his transport from Florida to Ohio to face a sexual misconduct charge was captured by police at a Mississippi service station, authorities said.

A tip led officers to David Randal Moser, who was on a pay phone at service station in Oxford, Miss., when he was arrested Tuesday, said Randy Corban, chief of the University of Mississippi Police Department.

Moser, 25, was being taken by a private transport company to Richland County Jail in Mansfield, Ohio, on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Moser was held in the Lafayette County jail in Mississippi, pending his transport to Ohio.

Authorities said Moser fled to Florida earlier this year before charges could be brought before the grand jury in Ohio.

Ashley Nimmo, director of marketing communications for the prisoner transportation company TransCor, said investigators are still looking into how Moser escaped.
