They do not let you bring in makeup or glass or anything with alcohol..no food..basically your clothes, unopened toiletries or see through..and we were bringing in our own sheets and towels but now they do not want us doing that either..any other questions I might be able to help you with?

lilmamas21 10-28-2004, 02:49 PM On my family visit, I got to bring make up, sheets, blankets, towels, and plastic eating utensils, my bathroom stuff, everything has to be clear and in clear bags. No food!
agrlsparky 10-28-2004, 11:17 PM Have a great time on your visit.
agrlsparky 10-28-2004, 11:22 PM I go to family visits in Blythe, Ca. at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison. Here are some easy tips:
1. Be sure that everything you bring is brand new and in a see through container. For example, shampoo, deodorant, liquid soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, tampons, pads, etc. etc. Try to purchase products with no alcohol.
2. For your first visit, bring the absolute minimum that you will need to help lessen your stress and ease your nerves.
3. Be sure to bring a copy of your marriage license and your i.d. Your marriage license must be an original copy---not a photocopy or an abstract.
4. You can bring conservatively sexy nightgowns, panties, etc. No blue denim. Do not bring any clothes for him.
5. Every prison is different---check with your family visiting coordinator at your prison for any questions you may have.
KMFDM75 10-29-2004, 05:47 PM Your husband should be able to get you a list from the prison he is at. I think that they are all a little different. I go to Ironwood and I can't take tampons or pads.....so see when his instatution says...

agrlsparky 10-29-2004, 06:35 PM Yes, be sure to check with your specific prison. KMFDM75 is right. For example, I can take makeup to my family visits. I know other prisons do not allow it. Our family visiting coordinator is very helpful and friendly. Don't be afraid to call and ask questions. That's their job. Good luck.
sweetthang 11-05-2004, 07:52 AM At CMC limited makeup is allowed, absolutely no meds - not even aspirin or Tylenol. I can't even bring in a brand new, sealed little bottle of wetting/cleaning solution for my contacts. Also, we must bring a dishtowel with us for kitchen use. I usually toss in a sponge/scrubber pad in its unopened package to make life a little easier and two towels. Games and books are allowed but no dice and no electric appliances like curling irons, etc.

denverswife 10-27-2006, 09:28 PM Every facility has their own rules, so check with the family visiting officer at the facility you'll be going to. If you let us know which one, maybe one of us has experience there. I had family visits at Mule Creek until a year ago.
