The other day, I was at my sisters home, and my brother in law hands me a jar of applesauce that he just canned, and said I have to use it up fast, as it wasn't sealed!!
Oh, I love homemade applesauce!!! I also love (in best Peter Brady voice) Pork Chops and Applesauce!!!
Mother and I disagree on EVERYHTHING....... Including how to cook Pork Chops and Applesauce!! So I made it two different ways!!!
Well, I went to the store to get some pork chops and was absolutely shocked at the price!!! I nearly fainted. I got Pork Shoulder Blade steaks instead.
P.S.B. and Applesauce Recipe #1 ala JJT Style:
In skillet saute in butter;
Sliced onion
chopped red pepper
chopped celery (just cause I had one)
1 chopped clove of garlic
Remove and mix with applesauce in a bowl. What the heck, add a couple more spoon fulls of applesauce. Season with salt and pepper.
Put pork blade steak in skillet. Brown on both sides.
Remove and put into clear glass baking dish.
Cover blade steak with the applesauce mixture.
Put lid on baking dish or cover with tin foil
Bake at 350 degrees until it smells done (45 minutes or so)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Mothers P.S.B. and Applesauce.
Brown pork shoulder blade steak on both sides, in skillet.
Smother meat with applesauce.
Add just a touch of water (I am not sure why, but she said to do it!!) LOL
Put lid on skillet, reduce heat to medium low and cook until done.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Both recipes are very good!!!
