THE NONVIOLENT HUNGER STRIKE at Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC) at Clallam Bay, Washington will resume the morning of Wednesday, January 15, 2003, because the Superintendent there has allowed the non-professional and corrupt behavior of some of her employees to continue, after a brief flurry of deceitful reassurances and "public relations" white-washing to outraged relatives and friends, and to the media.
In a few days we should receive an update on the situation from inmate James Curtis # 984533 (see his previous letters below). Reporters who would like to go directly to the hunger strikers for information and impressions might want to arrange with the Superintendent for a media visit or media phone call with James Curtis, and/or one or more of the writers of the following three new letters immediately below. We received these letters about a week ago. (By the way, the IMU prisoners are housed in several different "pods" and blocks, and there is virtually no direct communication from one section to another. Also, it is not uncommon for some ingoing and outgoing mail to be intentionally "lost." Therefore, not all prisoners are able to begin and end their abstention from food at the same time.)

[For addresses of Superintendent and Secretary of Corrections, etc., links to the petitions, and to read excerpts from 3 of the many letters we've received from CBCC IMU inmates, go to http://www.ourchurch.com/member/j/jamescurtis and click on "Letters from 3 Hunger Strikers" in the indeex.
